Engine and transmission are out. Looks bad for the engine. Probably going to need a lot of work. I'll be opening it up this week to see. In the mean time I bought these from my friends wife. He had them done years ago for this car, and they sat in the top of his garage (hence the dusty pictures) they cleaned up nicely, and will be installed when the car is running and I verify the AC system works. IIRC they are Katzkin.

The timing job could have been done proper and the oil pump locked causing the timing to jump.....I would tear into the motor.....not telling you anything you have not thought about....like the turbo might be dry from years of sitting which will cause lost of shaft play. I am with Aaron...I would keep the car completely stock.

The balance shaft bearing walked causing all the damage. I jus got the head back from the shop this week. I disassembled the short block and now am gathering a parts list. Plan is to put back arp main bolts, and such. Maybe 2g or Evo pistons, since it has to be bored to clean up the cylinders. I'm going to do a 14b, and maybe a 2g exhaust manifold. It will all be stock appearing at least. No plans to upgrade exhaust or anything along those lines. Just get her back running with a good solid engine, one that can take abuse if I end up modding it later on.

Thanks, I used the SEM bumper coat from your thread, worked out well.

So last couple weeks have been interesting. Abridged version...

Thursday: Bad Crank
Friday morning: deliver good crank
Friday evening: Wrong pistons
Saturday: deliver Stroker crank to match pistons....

Thats right she's going 2.3, with a 14b! My friend always wanted to do it, and since I had gotten his stroker pistions (not realizing they were) I'm in a time crunch for the road rally, I went ahead and ran with it.
