Best quote of the thread...hands down! Sorry bud, I've usually used that phrase. One of my good friends has been bald on top since he was 15 and he always laughs when I call him 5 head.

Your baby is adorable though. I have two young boys. Conner is 5 (already...I know guys), and my baby Caleb is 2. Enjoy the younger years bro, they FLY by and before you know it they want to use/lose/destroy your tools and play your Xbox. My life wouldn't be the same without them though. They're BOTH spitting images of me.

(ok old news for most im sure but i thought i would share)
For the 14b swap supposedly you use the 1g dsm water and oil lines I thought. I just used all the original 4g61 lines and it worked out great. The only issue is the banjo fitting side of the 4g61’s water line (the u shaped one that goes under the turbo and hooks to the water pipe) has a 12mm hole but the 14b needs a 14mm hole. That must be why its recommended to use 1g dsm lines. I even had purchased a supposed dsm line but the line was a much larger U shape and I found it too difficult to bend into place so I just used a 9/16 end mill and drilled the hole larger in the original 4g61 u shaped line. (a milling cutter is uber clean but a drill bit would work too)

Now I know some may want to say… wait its metric and don’t drill out a banjo fitting it wont seal etc. But a 9/16 drill bit equates to 14.2 mm which is no problem at all just a lot more common. As for drilling the banjo larger I wish I had taken a picture to show that the banjo boss for the 4g61 line is exactly the same size overall as the dsm line( ie plenty of meat left). The 4g61 just had a 12mm hole bored through it instead of a 14mm on the dsm. Im on the super cheap with this project partly just for the challenge of it, so I inspected and reused all the copper washers and haven’t had a problem so far.

Long story short this is super old news and way late for most guys but to swap a 14b onto an original csm turbo car you can reuse all original lines and washers (as long as they haven’t been used a bunch of times already) all you have to do is enlarge the banjo eyelet on the U shaped water line coming from the water pipe to 14mm.

And remember every machine and welding shop in town will have the 9/16 bit (14.2mm) and would probably drill it for you for 5 bucks.
Here is a pic of the u shaped line I did not use just for a reference as to what im talking about.

Everyone loves pics so here is a fun one. (who needs a radio)
Im still trying to catch up to current on the little things I’ve done with my colt since I bought it.
I made this aluminum gauge panel, one evening after work, to house my boost gauge and someday to follow an air fuel gauge from my wideband in that blank hole.. theres enough meat left on the panel to add a usb connection or a couple of on off leds for various future add ons

Looks good. I'm a fan of DIY projects that use things just laying around the house or garage. You should've got a boost gauge that reads to 45psi though. You never know when your gonna need it.

your right gsr-4, black would really make it blend in but the buffed aluminum looks great in person. the pictures make it look extra shiny. i like how it gives it a bit of an industrial look, i"ll be adding more things to the panel in the future too so a natural finish makes it easy.

"45 psi" that's crazy talk. [-X ha ha....well you never know maybe i will have a lightly used 30 psi gauge for sale someday.

the above foreshadowed megasquirt install/update will have to wait since i havent uploaded any photos or collected my thoughts on writing it.

But here is something to look at during these cold winter months. hopefully it helps keep the motivation up for the spring
during the summer i built this 3 inch exhaust system. the downpipe is ebay, the bends are from columbia river mandrel bending, and the muffler is a generic turbo muffler from jegs, i reused most all my old brackets and rubber hangers.

i tigged the whole thing up because i had the time and had just purchased an old school buzzbox style welder with all the tig accessories
i hope you enjoy

here are my best attempts at showing the in car fitment. im proud of how tight it fits to the body and especially over the rear axle.
i spent a lot of time on that and had to a few pie cuts to get it just right.

Looks great! And since I crawled under my car at least 25 times today working on my exhaust I have more respect for you now  . It's a job to say the least. That last picture looks really close to mine. I also used a $27 Thrush turbo muffler from Jegs.

I also recently worked on my exhaust system. I replaced the muffler.

Hats off to you for doing so much more, and maintaining a good clearance.

My biggest fear is the contact that the exhaust makes with the frame under extreme suspension compression/corners, etc.

If you ever find really stiff exhaust mounts ... let me know!

Hey thanks guys. It was a bear to do i was pretty sore from getting up and down from under the car so many times to make sure it was right.

as far as the hangers and mounts i just used all the old rubber mounts and cut off the steel hangers from the original to use as well. What i did was to weld them in such a way that they all kind of opposed eachother and pulled on the rubber to preload it a little before tacking the steel hanger to the pipes. It turned out really stiff i was actually a little worried that it wouldnt have any give anymore but it turned out fine. It hasnt bumped or rubbed on anything yet. Six months later im pretty confident it wont.

i hope to do some autocrossing this summer so i guess that will be the ultimate test for suspension compression etc.

That's some fancy exhaust! I just bolted a Y pipe (electric cutout) to my ebay downpipe and then into a 28" glasspack. lol
