It all starts with a 1993 Hyundai elantra (ughhh) Motor no good, body looks ok, and all the hardware is there and I've got about a dozen talons lying around...

I will start buying parts this week and see if they are good enough to push fwd into 12s in a 4door Hyundai

$200 for the wheels, and the motor has FIC 750s in it already!

going to use that money towards rebuilding/flow testing them, I recycle/build cars for a living and the Hyundai elentra I picked up for free, it cost me $30 gas in my tow truck. but its worth probably $200 in crush weight, so that's how I will count that "purchase". I also wont include any parts I use lying around as "free" I will count them as what I would have taken in cash for selling them

as far as the budget is concerned:
$200 Hyundai
$500 tsi
$150 20g/manifold/tial 38
-100 cats
-200 1g wheels
so that's $550 "out of pocket" so far. I still have a lot of selling to do to make this budget.

The Hyundai will be stripped as much as possible, so anyone that needs anything feel free to contribute to the build, cheap prices!

also have 2 f5m33 with lsd inserts lying around... gotta set a price on them

Pretty cool project! I'm sure you'll be able to pull it off.

Slow day on the build. Got half inch of snow overnight uggh. But I managed to sell driver side door panel for 30$, 2g shift knob that was in Tsi $10 and the driver side inside door handle for $20, so we can add $60 to my spend budget. Woot. Pics to come Tomo as 4g63 comes out

Some of my budget is gonna be spent tearing block apart. I don't want this thing to blow apart the first time I run a 13 and end the game. I'm thinking bearings, seals, rings, quick home job, lapped valves, machines head. Gonna eat up a couple hundred. And I'm not sure what to charge myself for the arp head studs I have sittin in a blown piston block lying around...

What's left to spend:
Clutch ($400)
Fuel pump($100)
Machine shop ($150??)
Engine bearings/rings ($150)
Maybe some sort of fpr ($100?)
Injector rebuild ($80)
Studs
MLS gasket

Better start selling parts..

Yeah! Bout time you got on here! Good to see some of my old junk being put to good use. I am still undecided what im doing with my car. I might try to blow up the 1.5 trans on the strip. I am excited to see you doing stuff like this. Really great project. (Reminds me of somebody i know). I gave up dsms/csms forever a few years back. Sold my awd colt to dallas and now look where he is today. He has a yard full of em. I still say the elantra is too damn heavy for this project. But the elantra would be a siiiiick dd. i had one for awhile i wanted to swap but ended up selling it. The wiring should be the same as turboing a n/t dsm. There is lots of info on that if you just want to add a few wires to the 1.6 engine harness.
Obviously i got back into csm i bought a nice clean already built 4g/4g63t coupe last fall. I dont think its possible to stay away forever. I just love being seen in these wimpy cars

You should buy one of my junks and join in on the fun, it's still snowing out! So I have done nothing since the last post. But my 2.3 stroker blew up my ic again so I'm putting that back together today
Image

And since I'm already off topic I finished building this for a customer and sending it to Regina. He's lovin it
Image

They say plus 10c tomorrow. So well see how that goes. Stay tuned (ps buy some stuff)

Edit: hard to do anything with crap like this

I hear ya on the weather. We've been riding a rollercoaster of 20*-60f* over the past week. Yesterday morning we had snow. It was 52* today and now it's 28*, sunday is supposed to be 71*. :o I'll believe it when I feel it.

How much boost are you pushing to blow an IC open?

Haha lots. On pump before I owned it on a garret60-1 it did a 10.18@136. Legit time slip somewhere. Runs a modest 30 on a 50 trim

But it turned out good. Til the next something breaks in a couple days. :(
