No real progress lately, it's either been raining or just too hot to work on the car. We did get it up on jackstands and pulled the original brakes and suspension off. I have new KYB GR-2's made for a 1g AWD ready to go on. The front brakes will be upgraded to the twin piston calipers and a drum to disc conversion on the rear. screen capture software img image post adult image hosting |

I actually had it promised to Frank (Possiblevr4). I was going to do an AWD swap on it for him. Once we sold our Outlander Sport though I decided to keep it and fix it for myself since it was in such good condition and we needed something to drive. You guys know me though, I don't keep anything long so we'll see what happens in the future. |

Chris your builds ALWAYS come out so clean and tidy. I love your attention to detail. That 4G64 is going to be alot of fun in that car and I bet you'll see 30 MPG or more if you can keep your foot out of it. Lord knows I wouldn't be able to. I just started a new job a few months ago for the world's largest oil and natural gas well site service provider and I'm making alot more money than I did working anywhere else and once I get caught up on all of my debt and bills I want to build something sick, I just have no idea what yet. The Hyundai is falling apart. The good news is that another company within Schlumberger just hired me as a full time mechanic with a HUGE pay raise, free FULL benefits, a company phone, company laptop, company truck (2012 F250 Super Duty 6.7 PowerStroke twin turbo), matching 401k, employee stock options, all Matco tools, and much more. It's an opportunity that I just couldn't pass up. Anyway, I would really like to get rid of the rattler Hyundai and build something that'll definitely be turbo, a manual, and smoke most anything around (like a Colt...). Good to see that you're doing well Chris. |

hey Chris on the caliper bracket pics.. those are factory ones right?.. do yours sit at the same angle? mine put the caliper at about 9 O'clock... where those look like its about 10:30 - 11 O'clock.. if your kit is suppose to end up the same as these then I think mine are on wrong lol..which might be why my brakes suck lol looks great tho..cant wait till its running. Yes, these are factory brackets. I was going to make a set for myself but miragesist hooked me up with the brackets and hubs. Mine are just copies of these so they will put the caliper at the same angle. Sounds like yours are on upside down. |

So much pretty in one post! Try oven cleaner next time, that stuff really gets the grime out and it's like $2/can at walmart. |

Do you ever have problems with paint chipping and scratching when you do all these parts? I'm assuming everything was done spray can, and I never seem to have good long-term results with that. |

It holds up pretty good under the hood. But it is paint so it does scratch/chip of course. I do try to prep the part well to make sure it sticks good but again, its only paint. If you were to spray it down with carb cleaner or toss tools up on the valve cover while doing maintenance of course its going to come off or chip. If you're careful it'll stay looking nice for years. Same way with the interior. I dyed some interior black several years ago on a mirage sedan and it looked great. If you kicked the door or took a nail and tried to scratch it, it would come off but I think you'd have that same problem on a new car. |
