Thanks man and you're right. Still kicking myself for scrapping my last shell that was perfect. We've almost got this one ready to run so I don't see it happening this time around. 8)

I'll be using a cable clutch trans from a 93-96 csm along with a 1g na 7 bolt flywheel/clutch.

That's one heck of a buy.

I have a perfect donor DSM for something like that too.

Looks like some nice work there with the wheels and motor.

Got the lips masked off with 1/8" fine line tape, then masked off the lip/tire so that I could paint the wheels. W09 Summit white is the stock color.

I just need to unmask the valve stems and apply the red mitsu logos to the center caps and bolt them on.

Steve, I wish the booth was mine but it's not. I painted them at a friends house.

Are you going to clearcoat the entire wheel and lip afterwards? Ive always been on the fence whether to clearcoat a polished surface to preserve it from oxidation or leave it raw so its easier to touch up with a little polish. I lean towards clearcoat nowadays. Looks amazing by the way. Heck of an effort!

I chose not to clear the lip. I didn't want to use any kind of adhesion promoter and risk it discoloring the clear. After polishing, it was so slick there's no tooth for the clear to adhere to. We'll just hit the lips once a month or so with some aluminum polish and a rag. If it starts to become a problem I'll just clear them. The paint itself was cleared. Thanks!

Come do my GVR4 refurbs.

Lookin' Good Buddy!!!!

P.S. How did you do those diamonds so cleanly?

Thanks guys, this is the 4th or 5th set that we've done so it's second nature now. It also helps that this car is actually for my wife and she lends a hand working on it when she can. She's actually the one that's blasted most of the parts in the blast cabinet for the build. We laid down an old towel and wetsanded them in our living room while watching TV. It probably took us about 30-45 minutes per wheel. I think we did like one a day or something in our spare time.

We sold our Outlander Sport about a month or so ago and went to look at several other cars but nothing felt right. One day she said I wonder what it would cost to just build that 3g that's sitting in the yard  ? The next day we started ordering parts for it.

Tim, the Mitsu logos are vinyl. We stopped by a local sign shop and picked out a color and they gave us some scrap. I just cut a small section out, applied it over one diamond at a time. Hit it with a hair dryer so that it would flex a little better and then carefully picked the edges back up while taking a dull toothpick that I broke the tip off of and forced the decal into the diamond taking care to keep any air bubbles out. If one gets stuck just lift the corner and work it back out. If you use a sharp toothpick or object it'll tear the vinyl. Once the lines are nice and crisp and all bubbles are out take a hobby knife with a new blade and with plenty of light carefully score along the edge following the groove. Then peel off the extra and see what you end up with. If it's not perfect like you want it peel it off and try again. Several of them took me a few tries to get them like I wanted them.
