Any progress?

Also you need one of these

$750 for a basic harness? Considering the 20hp difference between carb'd LS and injected LS, that's a big pricey.

You can easily make your own harness as well. $750 is crazy expensive. I see complete harnesses going for $300-400 for most swaps. Also, there may be only an initial 20hp gain between card and EFI, but once you want to start tuning and adding things like boost or nitrous, having EFI is obviously way, way better.

Carb'd ls intake, 260/new ebay, blowthrough carb 400/used, carb hat 100/used. I might be doing a boosted 5.3 into an FC as a next project, then use that motor in my Cutlass later on.

Carbs are for uncultured redneck swine. Get some class, mechacode!

You could buy a cheaper harness but you will spend more time fixing it. I work for speartech, we fully test each harness on a running engine.

Finding time to work on the car here and there. Got a killer deal on way too much clutch for the car-but for less than a monster stage one, I’ll grow into it. 

And confirming what I already knew…

Also pretty happy with the way the manifolds turned out. Had a tig lined up-but could not make it over to the shop so I went to town with the harbor freight Mig. Added bracing just to be safe.

Your harbor freight mig welds look much better than mine.

One of these days I will pony up for something nice. Really, I am waiting to install 220v in the garage for a real welder.

Made some more progress.

Spray bomb'd the manifolds with BBQ paint. "Baked" them in the sun. Tested the finish by trying to scratch it off with a screw driver. To my surprise-it did not come off.

Showing the brace, and the best a 10 year old harbor freight welder will weld. :(

She lives!

First fire. Runs/sounds great. Took a while to get the clutch to work, but we are all square now. Still needs a good brake bleed before she is back on the ground. I will also be doing a full review of these AWESOME turbos shortly. IMO these are a game changer in terms of value per dollar spent.

I am obviously undecided on the inter cooler. I am torn between A2A and A2W I have build a few of both set ups, but never used an A2W on my personal car.

Opinions?

I vote for a2a, a2w is a lot of weight to throw back into the car, sure there's plenty of power to make up for it but why bother.
