Sweet! Is there timing marks on those gears?

I noticed that too. There doesn't seem to be. But its a good thing for me since I'll have to remark them for my 2.4 anyway. I'll just line them up with some stockers and score a mark with an x-acto knife.

Nice job Chris!

Very cool addition to the archives. Been a while since there have been in depth threads like that.

Thanks Tim. Put the exact same write-up over on Mirage Forums and had a member basically say it was unsafe and there was no layout. Can't please everybody  .

Haha typical nay-sayers

Probably due to removing material on the hub face. I just saw rotors that had large slots where they bolt to the hubs, for a corvette suspension bolted to a 55 chev platform. One of the Hot Rod Garage episodes where Tony and Lucky do a drag race face off with all the cars they could find within range/in of their shop. "Strange Performance" stuff IIRC.
Weight reduction style front brake setup was installed to clear 15" vintage style wheels.
Not too worried about a little material removal at the hub face, but I guess that member was.

Yep, I posted pics of a factory acura hub that has similar holes drilled from the factory.

I also mentioned one could easily go back and weld in short pieces of solid steel rod into the now unused holes. I've done it in the past but think it's overkill.

Picked up a super cheap set of 16x7 Maxxim Sixx wheels on ebay for $111 shipped :o
Brand spanking new in the box, guy said he needed to clean out the warehouse and they had about 10 sets.

I refurbished an old thermostat housing. Drilled and tapped for a hose barb since it was a NA housing and I'm going turbo. Tossed in new sensors and bolted it up.

I see a few others updating or starting build threads and figured I'd follow. Maybe motivate somebody else to take a few minutes to do the same and bring this poor forum back  .

Anyway I've had this transmission a year or two now. Pulled it from a 98 Galant. Here it is in the back of my old Colt the day I pulled it.

Image

I pulled it by myself on a hot day and this particular yard is mostly sand, what fun. Oh yeah, cars are sitting right on the ground too.

Image

Quick clean up.

Image

Modded upper trans mount to work on the 4g.

Image

Everything that would come off was taken off.

Image

After another good wipe down I shot it with some Rustoleum high heat silver.

Image

Much better.

Image

Replaced all the bolts with new ones.

Image

Cleaned up and blasted the brackets and gave them a light coat of primer and gold.

Image

Image

Masked up the trans and did the same thing to the other lever.

Image

End result, just need to paint the top mount and get some new axle seals.

Over all I think it looks good. Wasn't sure about the gold at first but once its in the car you'll hardly see it anyway. It mimics the factory yellow zinc pretty good I think.

Thanks guys! Steve, this is just how I am man. I just can't bring myself to throw something together, I've tried  . Honestly if I didn't do it this way I really would lose interest.

Oh yeah, and the selling cars will never change. I mean I'll be 40 in November and I'm positive I've had at least 50 cars. That's probably a low estimate too.
