Here is the new Project!! Looks to need a battery, starter, distributor, tranny installed and torque converter ring teeth smoothed out. Went ahead and put the 18's I bought for it on. Looks much nicer than the stock steelies.

I like the color. Needs lowering.

Oh yes, I will drop it. Most likely 2". Installing the tranny will help too :)

Hit PaP today, just looking for a distributor, and came away with some extra booty!!!

Found a 92 Expo sport missing the 5-speed tranny and distributor, but was able to get these before I froze in the 10 degree wind chill:
Spoiler, center console bezel and an inside door handle for the sliding door

I found a 94 Galant 2.4L and snagged it's distributor.

I also found a Goodyear selling some RS-T's with 80% tread for $30 each, with free mount and balance!!

I might go back later in the week for the outside sliding door handle and the front knuckles. I think someone on here was looking for a sliding door handle.

Really like the look of those 18's on there! It sort of looks like a more modern SUV-type vehicle IMO

Yea, should be running 225/40r18's. These are 225/50r18's. I needed tires, and I couldn't pass up the price. I'll run these till something better comes along

Picked up a pristine sliding door, driver's headlight, passenger mirror, driver side motor mount and correct 93 distributor from PaP this weekend. I would rather paint a door black and silver than cut, weld, mud, sand, paint a Door. Plus, I will have a spare door glass AND door handle assembly (which I may just sell).

I received the starter plate in the mail on Saturday (Thanks Shaun!!!!). Now it is time to install the starter plate and TC to the motor, attach the starter and see if it turns over properly.

I also got a line on (maybe) a set of 17" identical to my 18's that I could get tires for when I am ready to lower it.

Well, got a little more troubleshooting done on the Summit. The issue with the summit is that is makes nasty noises when turning over. The noise is comng from the TC/Starter area. I created a "test bench" in the back of the summit since the tranny is already there.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoZsnVnThTU

So...

1. I purchased a new AWD/Manual starter and tried it in the Transmission, it locked up immediately, teeth always engaged. This tells me that the starter I have (17217) is the correct starter

2. As the video above shows, it spins the TC just fine when in the tranny (I suspect that trying it when just mounted to the starter plate, even holding it straight, might allow the TC to move on the flex plate enough to damage the ring-gear teeth.

3. If you listen closely in the video, you can hear a bit of a rattle withing the starter whine, which is the noise that appears to be from the boogered up ring teeth.

Did ALOT of installing, testing and dropping of the tranny on sunday. Installed a brand new TC, still get the bad sounds. We did notice that the TC seems to not be rotating in a true circle, seems to be rising up and down. Upon further inspection we noted that the large nipple on the TC is 1 1/16 in in diameter, and the hole to receive it in the motor is 1 3/64". So, it is obviously too small. I know this motor came out of a newer (95/95 Galant), so the crank end insert could be causing the issue. Riceless90 has a spare insert, so I will try and remove the current one and place the new one in there and test. Thankfully, we have devised a process to drop the tranny in less than 10 minutes and be able to install it in the same time!!

If this doesn't work, then either the FlexPlate is bent/bad or the crank itself is bad, as the TC fits perfect and the transmission shaft has zero play. Now to just wait on some dry weather.

Are you replacing the door because it is rust or accident damaged? Mine is pretty rusty on the bottom edge and I've been torn between try to repair it or replace it.

Finally got back at this wagon. Found that the pilot bearing hole was too shallow. So, We ground off part of the nipple on the TC and put it all together. VIOLA!!! She turns over as she should. So, reassembled everything and found the xfer case that came with the wagon is for a manual DSM, not an auto Summit/Expo. Thankfully, Rob (riceless90) got a matching xfer case with his RVR High Sports Gear turbo transmission, so I was able to snag his.

Unfortunately, we are not getting fuel to the rail. So, looking at either ECU, MPI, Pump or clogged fuel filter. Simple stuff compared to what we have gone through just to get the TC and starter to be happy together. Hoping to get this thing running and convince an old guy here to trade me his Conquest TSi with no fuel pump power for the summit. Fingers crossed.

She runs!!!! Installed the correct distributor (thanks Chris) and a new fuel pump sending unit assembly and that's all she needed. Now all she needs is fresh oil, tranny fluid and spark plugs. :D
