So its been a while and I have made some progress. It turns out that:

A) The engine mounts from an Elantra for a FWD swap do NOT work.
B) The GSX mounts DO NOT WORK.
C) The spindles from a GSX/GST will bolt on. HOWEVER! The steering rack is NOT long enough to accommodate for this. You will be pigeon toed.
D) The AWD trans is much longer than the FWD trans and WILL hit your frame rail. I had to cut and weld in an arch to clear it.
E) The throttle cable will slide right in.
F) The factory hole where the brake booster used to be is a great fit for the new GSX wiring harness. (I'm not running a brake booster anymore)
*Side note. I am running Starion wheels. 16x7 +18 225/55R16. front and 16x8 +0 225/55R16 rear. The front wheels will rub horrendously if you don't trim the inner fender where the stock batter sat.

Progress is good, mostly boring grinding/welding where you won't see. Mostly in the rear cut of the GSX. I had to do some major trimming (will post pics) to rid the subframe of rust and crap. Sadly, things haven't been going as fast as I'd like them to be, as money and time have been on short supply.

With the motor and transmission in the car and the intake manifold/exhaust manifolds on it its hard to see where a FMIC will fit. So I'm thinking of chopping into the Bumper support to place it there and a tad lower to get some fresh air.

Even though yours is a earlier model, most of what applies to the 89-91 CSM will also apply to your car when doing an AWD swap.

With the mounts I believe you need a combination of parts. From the 92-95 elantra you'll need timing belt side mount. For the tranny you'll need a 89 4g61t bracket and a 3G CSM mount. (IIRC).

What are you going to do about the cross member? This will dictate how you front and rear engine mounts.

I would look at trying the wagon FWD spindles. Or there was someone here who swapped out longer arms on their rack...

On my 91 swap the awd tranny is hitting the frame too. I also used the old 91 throttle cable on my 88 g32b mpi swap, it worked ok.

Do have any more pictures? That starion looks nice....

About the Cross Member:
I'm going to make a bar that is removable in the front where the trans/engine bolt together. and I'm going to have to come up with a firewall side mount of some sort. That hasn't been the point of interest at the moment but has been noted! :D

Sadly, that starion is no more, it got cannibalized. However, it went to a wonderful cause! (I think) ALL of it got moved into a 1983 Starion. (Will post pics of that as well. )

for rthe FWD eng mount braket you should use the fwd bracket that comes with your G32B eng

I tried that this morning and it doesn't fit properly. It hits the camshaft gears and the Timing belt.

That being said, I'm doing a tube frame front end. This is to fit the potential huge single turbo OR Evo 3 16G/BW S256 Compound turbo setup. Time will tell. I need all the space I can get. An alternator relocation and a Oil filter relocation are in order.

When the car starts, the first thing of business is to tune it and run it at the local track here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 5,300ft elevation.

Update!

All the wiring is done!!

Now I'm looking at spending $650 on racing pedals... FUUUUUUUU!!

On a different note. The 1G Shift cables don't fit, WAAAYYYY TOO LONG. Maybe CSM Cables?

I'm having trouble uploading any pictures for some reason. Even if re-size them.

Anyways, I'm looking at a basic rebuild since I'm low on cash (go figure)

I'm almost there guys.

This project was scraped due to being screwed over on the title of the car.
The AWD was finished and the car was running. Its really not as hard as one would think to do it.
If you wish to do this to your 1st or 2nd gen. Do it. It's a blast to drive.

DSM spindles DO bolt on. Nice upgrade. The car REALLY stops. The cars weight was roughly 2350 with a 10 gallon cell and me in it. (250lbs)
Made just over 300awhp @ 23 with a 16G and did a nice 1/4 mile of 12.2 @ 123mph.

You're right. It probably would've been worth the effort to swap vins. As neat as the car was ( and I do miss it ) I have moved onto different things. I've learned a lot by doing this swap and actually did a 91 Hyundai Excel AWD 4G63 conv as well. The swap isn't difficult. Hell, if I can do it right, most anyone can if they have a little know how in welding and building structurally sound things. You don't need fancy tools or a laser alignment machine. Plumb bobs and strings work just fine.

Most of them are from 2012 when imageshack was a decent image host but they've since gone to a paid model. You can try pm'ing him and seeing if he still has them.
