I left the driveway for the first time last night and the driveshaft is hitting the floor above 10mph. So I pulled it out till I can figure out something better. I have also modified the turbine housing to accept the tial 38mm I have had laying around. Lastly built some exhaust out of old bus exhaust using a harbor freight $90 flux wire mig. Still need some little things but should be driving it around soon fwd.

What was up with the driveshaft that it was hitting the floor?

Im not sure how I screwed up but the rear most joint is hitting. It may be as simple as a few hammer blows. Also the rubber joints in the shaft look all beat up so I think I mounted one of the supports with the rearend hanging and not in its rightful location. I was really rushing. I would like to have a better driveshaft made, not sure if I even want to make this one work.

Understood.

Next question... Does the wastegate on the turbine housing work?

My research indicates it will work fine, I wanted to machine the divider to the face of the valve in the gate but the shop didn't do that. So there is about 10mm gap where the pulses can interfere. I don't plan on running super low boost nor am I too concerned with lag since I use nitrous to launch. We'll see how it works. If you want to read up in it I found some threads on yellowbullet and honda
tech.

If you researched it and say it will work then I'm good. If it behaves in a different way than anticipated please share; I am curious. Thanks.

I decided in an effort to keep the car more reliable and cheaper to operate to downsize to an hx40. After a lot of grinding on the block, compressor housing, and turbine I got the hx40 bolted up. The manifold is an ebay that's been repaired and angled a few times. I decided to give it a try as it was free. The turbine housing is the divided t3 18cm that the turbo came with. I only rolled around the block a couple times on the hx52 before throwing it on my cummins so I don't have any real info on it.

I still have a few more loose ends before the trip around the block. Need to build wastegate dump. Need to remake driveshaft. Also have a leaky axle seal and pinion seal to replace. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with Dsmlink at the moment. In the past I had a lit of help setting it up on a borrowed ECM. Now with my own v3 I'm figuring it all out.

Here's a quick idle video. I hope to have some more vids and pics soon and be at the track within the next couple months.

Floored it for the first time today awd. First pull with wastegate disconnected.

Ok after that screw up I hooked the gate up and here is a pull on spring pressure.

I have a bunch of loose ends but damn it feels good to beat on it again. The driveshaft has a vibration so I may bring it somewhere local to remake or order a whole new one. I also need to align the front end and square it all up. I plan on throwing four new tires on it right now they are mismatched by .3" and the drag radials are on the front with crap tires on rear.

Here is a photo of the two piece shaft. I remove the second carrier and turned my first 3 piece design into a two. When doing so I did not come out very well and vibrated on acceleration. Brought it to a local driveshaft shop and was quoted $300 to rebuild the back half with the correct mustang 8.8 flange. Hopefully I will have that back tomorrow.

I also got some new tires. They are 225/55/16 firestone fire hawk wide oval Indy 500. On sale at tirerack for $85 a piece, came out to $426 with shipping. I got them mounted and balanced for $60 and am waiting on a new axle and lug nuts to come in before I throw them on.
