Look in my build thread, I explain the pedal swap in detail. I used an elantra pedal and had to mod it slightly but if you get a csm one it will bolt right in. You'll just have to drill the needed holes in the firewall.

I just did this today in my 94 summit. Wasn't too too terribly bad. Took me a couple hours. I ended up almost entirely removing the steering column for the extra room, it's tight down there. I also used a piece of cardboard to make into a template for where to drill holes. Once the original pedals are out, the brake booster is easy to remove to line up your template with. Good luck!

If you're afraid to drill the holes for the pedal then one of these swaps are not for you. You'd be better off paying a shop to do it or just buy a dsm and keep the colt as a gas sipper.

The firewall should look there's a spot for the master cylinder if I remember correctly.

What's funny is CA would rather give you a lisence to smoke weed then carry or even own a gun. Liberals at their best.

Yea the fire wall has the provisions for a master cylinder, it just needs to be drilled. Or ship the car to me and I'll do it 8)

Just follow Chris's instructions that start a quarter of the way down the page here: http://www.4g61t.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 1&start=30

-Use some card stock and make a template of the hydro pedal mounting
-Remove the cable pedal
-Use the template to mark the new holes
-Drill the new holes
-Install your new hydro pedal and master
-Have a beer, you've been working hard!

Chris is right though... if this little step scares you then performing the swap yourself may not be the best idea. But remember, there isn't much that can be done that can't be undone with enough effort and materials.

Also, not to nitpick but the 'Builds' forum requires that you have pictures in your thread. Toss a couple from your wheel picture thread in here so everyone can see what you are working with!

^Exactly. Also I just wanted to add that I was not trying to be rude so please don't take what I wrote the wrong way. When I first joined here back in 05 I had very little mechanical skill. I had swapped a few turbos on my dsm's and helped a mechanic buddy of mine on some of the bigger stuff. But I was determined to swap my car. Once I got it apart I realized that it was a lot more work than I thought. Especially when you have a 1.5 model. I amazed myself in the end though. I kept chipping away at it and asking questions when I got stumped. Before I knew it, it was all back together and it actually ran. I got a ton of compliments on it too.

So with enough determination you can swap your car. But we also see a lot of people come here, tear down a perfectly good running car and either get in over their heads or lose interest in it completely and give up. If you are unsure, just drive the car and enjoy the great gas mileage. Maybe upgrade the brakes or something, start out small and work your way up. If you're ready for the swap now, dive on in and if you get hung up on something just post it up and we will do our best to help.

You'll bust some knuckles along the way, you will spend twice as much (if not more) than you thought you would, you'll want to set it on fire, sell it or roll it off of a cliff. But I promise you, if you stick with it and complete it. That first test drive will make you forget all of the heartache and the money you spent.

If you are still really looking for some help there are a few of us around depending on whether you need someone to come to you, which is my guess, or if you can bring the car to someone on here in Orange County or San Diego.

If you follow the instructions above you should be good to go! :)
