Looking good man, I like to see new things tried on these cars. How do you plan to mount the bracket to the spindle with one of the mounting ears cut? Dill a smaller hole beside of the cut one?

Yup. I am going to drill closer toward the bearing and run a bolt through from the backside. I wish cast iron could be welded to processed steel; I would go that route and not deal with four bolts and nuts per caliper...

Maybe drill/tap for a stud? Would make for a cleaner install I guess. Not that you would ever have to remove the brackets again once they are on. How big are those rx7 rotors anyway?

Do you have a dsm rear end yet? I actually have a GVR4 rear subframe and would like to do a 5 lug swap so I have the rear 4 lug hubs if you need them.

Drilling and tapping for a stud is a great idea. That will be my new course of action.

The rotors are actually 2g rotors. I am building this brake swap to fit inside 15" ROTA rims. I could just put the dual piston GVR4 brakes on but the weight difference is significant. One GVR4 caliper weighs noticeably more than both of these calipers.

I currently have two complete rear drivetrains just sitting at my garage. One is a 3 bolt LSD and the other is a 4 bolt LSD. And I have a set of GVR4 rear hubs in a box... Sorry Chris man at the moment I am stocked up on parts. LOL

I completely understand, and yes the twin piston calipers are heavy. Those are 4 piston usits though, correct? You don't happen to have a set of 5 lug rear hubs in your parts stash do you?

Yes they are 4 piston calipers. The pads are taller than the dual piston pads but skinnier by an inch. Surface area will be similar. I do not expect this brake set-up to work any better than using GVR4 parts but it will take weight off the front of the car.

I'll be over later today. Gonna lower my AFRs and try to get some more timing out of this engine.

Woo hoo! Finally got to run at the track last night. Went down with trooper. I am very happy with the results.
Image

I was launching at 3500 rpm off the stutter box. Tires would spin going into second and third. 2.3 60' is good for a FWD car with street tires. Gained 18mph in the second 8th and trapped 94mph. This is on 93 octane gasoline and my Sleeper 16g pushing only 9 psi of boost on a stock NA 4g61. AFRs were right around 11:1 and timing was set at 22 degrees at the top end. I found that the car was leaking coolant out of a heater hose, not burning it. So the boost controller is going on and I am going to push it up to 12 or 15 psi. As long as the clutch doesn't give I will push it a little harder.

Put oil squirters in the NA 4g61 block yesterday. Was simple and straight forward. I feel much better about turning up the boost now.
