Well guys the time has come to get rid of the sedan. I'm more of a hatch guy and my buddy Aaron is willing to do almost anything to get his car back. Him and I are planning to trade my sedan for his 89 hatch sometime towards the end of the month. We were planning to take care of it Saturday but due to some unforseen circumstances that never happened.
Anyway guys I sat down tonight and came up with some ideas as to what I want to accomplish with the hatch that he's giving me. I'm planning to have a comfortable and reliable daily driver that I can occasionally take to the track and wring out. Something to have fun in and is still easy to drive on the street and take long distances if it's required. This car will not see a turbo because I don't want a rediculously fast car like my 92 hatch was and I had more problems with it as a turbo car. Plus I need that reliability because for the first time in 12 years this will be my only car.
But I want you guys to give me an idea of what you think of this setup because I have ALWAYS wanted to have a naturally aspirated engine in my hatch that when I stomp on the throttle will not hesitate to lay down some torque and create lots of smoke and black marks. I know I can count on my boy Tony to give me some blunt opinions on what he thinks and that's the kind of tough love I need right now  .
OK, here's what I'm thinking...
4G64 6 bolt block
4G63 6 bolt head with 92 turbo cams
Cometic MLS head gasket (mostly to help lower compression)
NT Intake Manifold
80mm throttle body
Chinabay header
F5M33 5 speed trans
Hydraulic clutch swap
2.5" exhaust with Magnaflow muffler
240cc injectors
Colt GT axles
Elantra Motor Mounts
High Flow Fuel Rail w/AFPR
Walbro 190 w/rewire or 255LPH fuel pump
ACT 2100 clutch kit
Fidanza lightweight flywheel
91-94 NT ECU
NT Engine Harness
89Mirageman's adapter harness
1G MAS
K&N filter
Colt turbo gauge cluster
Of course there will be a new full gasket set and water pump installed. I will be keeping the balance shafts and all new belts and tensioners will be installed before the engine is put in the car. I would REALLY REALLY like to install a power steering rack and pump. I'd also like to install AC later on down the road. This will obviously not happen overnight because all the people here that know me know that I like to take my time and I'm strapped like two lesbians at a cock fight. Hopefully this won't be a long and drawn out process like my 92 hatch was but I'd like to hit it hard and get it done right the first time. I need some insight here guys as to what you think I should change in my list because I'm still learning as to what block/head combos work here. I know the 63 head installs on the 64 block but what I don't know is what the outcome of the static compression ratio would be which is I mentioned that I will be using a MLS head gasket because I'm imagining that it would be in the area of 13:1 or so and without methanol injection it's not going to last long. But anyway guys thanks for reading my novel here and thanks for your insight in advance. You all are awesome.

PS, here are some pics that I got from Aaron...

And finally a picture of his new girlfriend...he said it's getting pretty serious and he was thinking of proposing to her. Good luck buddy! We're all happy for you two!

The only thing that sucks about their arrangement is the fact that he has to wrestle her away from her ex. Aaron shot this pic when he was taking the car to get checked out.

I think you'd be happier with a bone stock 4g63t. Reliability isn't hard to keep on a stock turbo car, just keep up with maintenance. The setup you've got above will probably be about as quick as an EG hatch with a LS swap (not that much fun). Before my green hatch got rearended it was completely reliable and fun to drive. Just some food for thought.

I would look into a sohc 4G64 from the 7g galants or the expo/summit/colt vista wagons. Those engines are pretty peppy stock and I'm sure you could find a decent one in the junkyard for cheap. Either that or keep an eye on craigslist for a complete car with a bad auto tranny for cheap. Uweenukr and his dad did this swap recently and it just seems like the way to go for a cheap, reliable DD with 30-40hp over stock.

I agree with Chris, I think in some of my previous post I talked to someone about the wiring similarities of the SOHC 2.4 and the 4g15... Looked like it was almost a direct go wire to wire (maybe some connectors had to be swapped though.

I can't find any cheap deals on engines man! I think I'm just going to go with a 4G63NT swap because there's one right down the street for $300. Anyone know where I can find a cheap 4G64 6 bolt with a F5M33 tranny?

Well I know I haven't been here as much as usual lately but I did manage to get this done.

I don't have it all put back together yet but as soon as I do and clean up the wheels it'll be banging.

Thanks man. It's a Dupli Color paint that comes pre-thinned in a can. It was like $25 a quart. The color on the can says Dark Blue but it's got alot of metallic in it.

Are you not using the wheels that are currently on it?

The paint looks good bro, did you paint that outside or in a garage?

Looks good, Rob! I had those same, exact wheels on my DSM for a while.

I decided that I didn't like the blue because when I sprayed it one of the air nozzles in the gun I was using was clogged the whole time and the paint wasn't fanning out so it came out in a straight line. After I cleared it there were lines everywhere. So I decided to wet sand it all down and try again. Everyone here knows what my favorite color for cars is. My wife's car needed some attention too because the paint on it was looking dorky. It had a royal blue paint with chrome flake in it and it looked awesome when it was painted...8 years ago. Since then oxidation had destroyed the roof, hood, and trunk. Literally oxidizing the metal. I painted both of these cars with Rustoleum (yeah, the quarts of oil based cans that you get at Walmart for $8 a piece). Now don't get me wrong, they didn't just automatically look like this out of the can, I had to do some major wet sanding and buffing. There isn't any clear coat on either car but they look awesome for a $20 paint job each.

By the way my buddy owns a sign shop and he printed his logo and the Mitsubishi symbol on a chrome vinyl base so Mitsubishi and the logo are bordered with chrome. His logo is on the windshield I always liked it for some reason. It says SXDesign because his shop it called Signs Xpress. It's highlighted in chrome as well. My last black Colt had that on the windshield too but it was in silver and black.
