So I have been the proud owner of an original C53A Mirage for a couple years now. I love the car to death, but the interior is a freaking mess. It needs a LOT of love. This weekend I finally made a step towards improving it. There will be a couple phases. The first phase was swapping out the old, cracked-to-hell dash with a nicer un-cracked one (thanks fastvtgsx!). At the same time I also installed new HVAC controls (thanks typhoon92!), and a custom-made triple gauge pod to go where the center vent used to be (thanks eargasm6969!). What a crappy job the dash swap was. Took all damn day, but totally worth it in the end. Here are some pics. The original, crappy dash: ![]() Even more cracks! Yay! ![]() Getting the old dash out was the easy part... ![]() Looks like a bomb went off... ![]() Ahhh, new dash installed with the gauge pod as well: ![]() ![]() I decided to go with Prosport gauges, mostly because they're dirt cheap, but also because you can get them with a Green/White LED combo so it matches the stock gauge cluster. When the lights are off they look like this: ![]() And with the lights on... ![]() I still have to put some finishing touches on everything. One of the HVAC control bulbs is burned out, so I have to find a way to replace that. I also need to actually hook up the gauge senders, and find a new dash compartment box thingy with a door attached to it. Stay tuned for phase 2: new carpet and seats! |

Are those gauge pods still available from eargas? Reason: I have to find a way to install 6 gauges in the cars interior. Defi Racer Blue x5 (Boost, EGT, Pressure, Volts, ECT), 1 knock-off Prosport/Defi-look volt meter. What company have you chosen for carpetting? |

Where did you get that gauge pod from? If I can recall, you had a thread on how you made it? Looks awesome! edit: just searched it, 89coltgt made them for you? Wonder if has anymore? |

I doubt he is making them anymore. He only made a couple of them altogether, and he hardly ever comes on the forum anymore, but you can definitely try hitting it up to ask him.Quote: What company have you chosen for carpetting?
I bought some OEM carpet off Terry (miragerunner) a while back, so that's what I'll be using.Quote: Where did you get that gauge pod from? If I can recall, you had a thread on how you made it? Looks awesome!
Nope, I got it from eargasm6969. Read my first post again. edit: just searched it, 89coltgt made them for you? Wonder if has anymore? Glad you like it though, thanks. |

I threw it in the dumpster, where it belongs.Quote: Ricer gauges and pods are for ricers
Yeah, I really hate knowing what my boost, water temp, and oil pressure are too. Would look way better if I put them on the top of the dash using Velcro.

Looks great dude! Glad that dash helped you out, it was doing no good sitting collecting dust here. I really like the prosport gauges, if I had the extra money I'd switch to a set of them. Can't wait to see the next installment. |

I dig the improvements, I know they're relatively small but I bet they make a world of difference! |

Yeah man, took a good solid 8-9 hours, but we took our time on it. I also had to swap over dash harnesses from my old dash and wire up the gauges, that was a bitch. I bet I could do it faster now that I know where everything is at. I'm gonna put in a set of stock '98 240SX cloth seats up front and then get the backseat re-upholstered to match.Quote: Looks great man, I see you found all of the hidden bolts.
I sure did! Thanks again for hooking me up with those instructions, that helped SO much.
