Well i have another thread for this car in the pictures section i think.... figured i would make a "build" thread to post info for when i make some progress on this project. Anyways,

Originally the Summit Van had a 4g64 2.4L SOHC 8V engine. It was 5-speed and AWD. I think down in the US they were mostly called "Mitsubishi Expo"??? They were sold up in Canada as "Dodge Colt, or Eagle Summit" I was lucky to find a AWD one!

There now sits a 6 bolt 4g63t with a Galant VR4 W5M33 Transmission. It is still using the stock open diff rear end that came with it. I have a spare LSD rear end out of a eagle talon that i might try and install and also beef up the rear suspension crossmembers/diff mounts as the stock stuff looks pretty wimpy.

The A/C stuff has been removed along with the power steering as well. It is running a tucked 1G DSM wiring harness made to work with the Summits stock body harness.

Car is still under construction but the car runs/drives and stops under its own power now. Just little stuff to finish up on here like putting the interior/seats together and getting the Side mount Interooler/piping all in and mounted.

Currently the mods are

-6 bolt 4g63t out of a 1G Eagle Talon TSI
-Galant VR4 AWD 5-speed transmission (recently rebuilt)
-14b TDO5H turbo
-Walbro 255 HP fuel pump
-MBC (ball and spring)
-Full 3" Stainless Steel exhuast (from 1G AWD DSM)
-H&R springs (front) for DSM
-ACT 2600lb Clutch

PICS!

Ill keep this thead updated as i make more progress on this project and hopefully get it on the road in the next little while. (weeks, not months hopefully)

I love these wagons, I've owned two awd's and one fwd, all with manual transmissions. They were the most comfortable and practical cars that I've ever owned, period! My daughter is still upset with me for selling our last one to Joggle  . I told her if another one came up for sale around here in good shape we would consider it.

Looks like you scored a pretty nice one. Not sure if you're aware or not but we got the "LRV" that in my opinion had the better looking headlights and grill. Some of them had a sporty little spoiler on the hatch too. Might be something to look into once she's up and running reliably.

The LRV also was a 4 door and longer right? Without slideing doors but normal style ones in the back correct?

I'm not really sure what the difference is to be honest. The LRV that I saw at the junkyard a few years ago with the big headlights and the spoiler was a short wheelbase one like yours. I also noticed that the 95 summits have the larger headlights as well.

Mitsu Expo, was the 4 door wagon (total 5 "doors" if you counted the tailgate).
Mitsu Expo LRV, was 3 door wagon (what you have thave).

Personally, I think that Summits had the best looking front grills

I have been driving one of these vans for 2 years now. But the clutch finally went, so I am converting it to a 4G63. You can read-up on my project here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3117423

My is the 93 model, which means that it has 2G style motor/tranny mounts. Is your car '92 or did you convert it to 92/1G style of motor/tranny mounts?

Well I got a bit of progress done on her this weekend. The drivetrain is all together now and the brakes are good to go. I changed out a bad lower control arm (bad bushings) on the summit van, also replaced a siezed front caliper and installed two new tie rod ends and a ripped steering rack boot. Found all the parts I needed for the rear brakes and installed new shoes and ebrake cable. Also I got the proper turbo outlet pipe I need, so now I can finish installing the intake and intercooler (stock dsm smic). Then all thats left is to make some sort of battery tray up, and put a cat on her and the rest of the interior together and take her through aircare so I can insure it, and drive it.

Yeah, ... I drove it for few months... Took it to the track... Ran a 13.7 in the quarter and then I sold it.

It was a wicked car, I wish I still had it
