Replace that timing belt tensioner, ASAP. Looks great, gotta love the 2G with a 4G. Wonder what the final weight to power ratio will be once it's all tuned up.
so do you think for sure its the tensioner? i will get one, but the one i have seems good. it hold pressure. also, how would that make the wining noise. just want to know as much as i can so i know what to look for. and thanks so much for the info.

It has something to do with the timing belt tentsion as mentioned..

you have too much tention on the belt. You need to loosen the one roller tentioner up and bit, and let the hydro keep the pressure on the belt.

When the rollers go bad they make all kinds of noise. They may need replacing and are less than $20 a piece online. Mine were wore out and it sounded like it was growling at idle. The noise only gets louder as it revs up. Bet you its not the tensioner but those pulleys.

yeah having the timing belt will cause a whining. You have to be carefull about putting the belt too tight. Its a good way to wreck the cam journal and cylinder head etc if you have it too tight.

I set mine with my fingers...and I'm like the human torque wrench, so I was pretty nervous...and I probably still set it too tight.

ok so no go with the timing belt. i took a little out, as said and it slipped. lucky me it was on start up when it came in contact. i drove it after i let it out and it ran fine. still had the noise, thats when i found it was the turbo, a few days latter when starting it started making this clack noise, i shut down quick took a look, and sure shit, i slipped about 3 teeth. im glad it didnt happen doing 80 down the freeway, or pulling a wot from the corner. any way all is well with that fixed, no problems. but the turbo, thats a bad day. snapped that thing in half. so i need a new one. if any one sees anything let me know. thanks

That WHining could have been from the plastic timing cover rubbing on something that was turning, I wish I would have seen this thread sooner. I recently changed my timing motor mount and now I have a whining that I can stop by applying pressure to certain parts of the timing cover.
