How much hp can you get out of NA 4g63 these days?

I always wanted to do this...
Sneeky, I saw this! haha

You could probably eek out 140-160+HP. They are something like 120-140HP in various trim levels with the European GTi leading the HP foray.
I think they were 10.X:1 CR and had knock sensors, and maybe Eprom boards as well - but unsure of that last part.
Those HP figures are of course in factory trim/setup. The sky is the limit once you get into the motor and setup.
What if you do cams and higher compression pistons?

I have swapped a 4G63 NA into my 89 Colt and I'm currently still getting parts for it. But once I get the harness, adaptor, the clutch and the flywheel...I'll be golden (at least for now). Well, all the fluids obviously. I will be running the factory 4 speed with a hydraulic clutch (4G63NT clutch and flywheel). I'm not looking for a screamer but it will have a stainless header back to a universal cat and then staight to the Magnaflow muffler and then out the back on the side with a tip. It has a modified air box with a K&N filter. I will keep everyone updated. I'm excited...think about it...4G15 8 valve to a 4G63NT should net me about a 60 HP gain. Sweet. Hope it passes emissions.

I just looked up RPW out of Australia, as they may ring a bell for the older folks here on the site too.

Check out this post based upon a similar motor setup, and near identical displacement ... 1.8-2.0L range.

That is an excellent article! Almost makes me want to build another Colt but import a 4G93!
