Angle the blade and it'll take that off pretty quick, careful not to gouge the aluminum with the steel blade, very easy to do.

Ty I used to scrap paint off glass with razors so I get the concept, I was hoping for a special solution.

Well I got the intake port matched and smoothed out and everything hooked up.

ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW.. What a difference! Awesome throttle response and more power. Great mod for a 4g15.

Well I did a little work on the car today. I am going to sell my 4g15 ecu and have a 4g37 ecu so I thought I would see what it would do because I havent read of anyone doing the ecu without supporting mods. (4g37 tb is installed)

Well I installed the ecu and ran it around a few miles and it seems ALMOST EXACTLY the same the only thing I could notice is it idling maybe 100rpms higher than normal but unsure with no tach. And my cracked exhaust mani seems to be getting worse..

Since I couldnt get it back in the stock location because I didnt want to cut the ecu casing. I just zip tied it below the glove box/blower area. I re zip tied it because that looked bad ill take another pic tomorrow.

Also unrelated I installed a barefoot gas pedal, not really my style but I like it. It was for my dads old car

Glad to see the ecu worked well for you, I know it looked really clean. Also you can swap it into your old ecu case so that it'll bolt up in the stock location. I also have an uncracked exhaust manifold too if you need it.

I went to work on the car for a bit having in mind to do the sway bar but changed my mind and did a lil something else.

I decided to do the air can mod because I have all the tools and it seems like an effective mod. I used this to help me: http://www.4g61t.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6257

This is what I did, i may cut it more

I pulled the silencer out even though its in the pic above. And installed the little weight reduced beast

It doesnt look too pretty and I didnt notice any difference but didnt unplug ecu or take for a drive just rev limited it once in the driveway and mis revving to hear and feel if there was any change.

I ended up leaving the 4g15 maf since its been running great with it and the screws werent coming loose easily so I just left it.

Elantra sway bar coming soon maybe this weekend

If anything, hacking the aircan will cut power because now it'll suck up 200* engine bay heat instead of outside air from the fenderwell. Find yourself a little stick on hoodscoop and cut a hole in your hood while placing it right over the hole, that'll give you outside air again.

Thanks for your concern mech, I now have a CEL on for some reason how do I find out what it is?(read code) I think its the 02 sensor but not sure doesnt seem to be running ruff maybe just a little less responsive. Very little, all these mods one by one make a big difference, except air can mod... It was an impulse mod and just tried to free up flow but now I sacrifice what little, restricted cold air I did get.. ill try to do something better, like move the battery and get it further from the motor heat.

Good news everyone, new/used elantra sway bar installed!

This is them side by side
Image

Installed, still need new end links, didnt want to pay $50 @ advance ill see how much they are at rock auto.

This is a must have if you really care for ride quality , even with my tired low ball joints and tierods there was very little slop as opposed to when I had the stock sway bar my wheel would have dead spots or your turning and hit bump and steering will adjust and possibly readjust while turning very scary, much better now. Still needs though..

can someone explain bumpsteer? Is this what im experiencing or are my ball joint shot like I think?

Was that bar hard to snake in there with the rear engine mount in place? I need to grab another one of these at the yard for my car while the engine is out. To check the ball joints or wheel bearings jack the car up and grab the wheel and see if there is any slop in any direction.

Very good 89mirageman, I did have a very hard time getting the new one in it kept getting hung up on the canister, and rear engine mount. I just broke the rear engine mount loose from the crossmember and that was all she needed, slipping right into place.

You can still use advanceauto. Just order online for store pickup. Use code TRT30 and get 30% off :D

Thanks thom, im checking all over, I want to get a quality part. I didnt know I needed different links so I got a bushing kit for my old links before the bar got here.

Im searching advance ($50 then whichever code I like j45, its 15% off a $50 purchase plus $25 coupon not free shipping unless I spend $75), rockauto ($20-$40 for a pair no free ship 'moog is 43.97 out the door'), and amazon (moog $40 free ship)

what do you think? Advance or amazon

Well I didnt really like the 4g shifter, or the 3g shifter. I heard about taking a 1g dsm shifter and combining it with a 4g base. I learn this mod from here.. http://www.mirageforums.net/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=42267 merrill is the pioneer of this as far as I know and it works great. He did a much better how to but heres my experience.

Disassemble both shifters carefully
Image

Carefully and SLOWLY bend tab to a 90 degree angle
Image

Mark out small area to be CUT out for clearance of longer arm
Image

This is what it look like after
Image

I carefully and gradually ground down the end of this end of the shifter to allow for clearance. If you attempt this be very careful not to remove too much, it will cause many issues.
Image

The shifter is a bit wider aswell as the shift collar, I reused my 4g collar but you can cut down the dsm one.
Image

One other thing I ran into is the cable needed notching to accept the cotter pin.
Image

Also in the picture above you can somewhat see the bump stop which I cut down, I didnt take a before a d after bc I forgot and im not sure it was necessary but the how to said to so I did.
