Most likely not until the fuel system is done. I did a short second gaer pull at wastegate pressure today in second gear. I did not go over 7500rpm. It hit 18psi and still climbing. I started around 120* intake temps and it got up to 165*. I would imagine it would go over 200* with ease in third gear. I am not willing to risk it just for a fun race.

Not to mention, it is going to be super slow with the boost down. I may take a spring out of the wastegate and try it there. I want to at least get a third gear pull and see what happens first.

And I did not really beat Jared persay. I spooled good on the first run and stayed out on him. Not too far though. But was spinning hard. The other two he WAY outspooled me and I could not chase him down safely. He is the big man around here, no question about that. No need to be ignorant to prove what we all know. I may consider it when the new fuel system goes in.

First step towards streamlining the car. Both mirrors are now gone.

Did a little preliminary tune just trying to get a feel for V3 and direct access. With my turbo and the 1.6L, my VE table looks wack. Like I had to put it well past 100% to get the boostest and map sensor lined up. Not only that, but the car seems to be uber lean. I will look at the logs and then possibly email them off to the ecmlink guys as I was in a hurry and could only spend about an hour with the car last night.

One new thing to note though. The wastegate dump is a flame thrower. I knew it would be, but not like what I saw last night. The last few pulls I had I was going to 1-3 or 1-4 just trying to get as much data as I could really. On each shift the dump literally was shooting flames out of the hood as tall as my roof. I could only smile. Wish I had a camera setup or a passenger at least.

Other good news is the turbo sounds nice and healthy as 20-21psi. This is the first time I have heard the compressor. I start to hear it around 6psi now. And you can hear is spin up the whole time. Kinda neat. Not neck snapping fast like the 16g. It gives you a tease the whole way.

From a first gaer roll, IAT's starting around 115* end up around 250* by the top of third gear. I was expecting worse. I am sure that will be worse as the boost goes up. But the boost will stay at wastegate pressure until the new fuel system is done.

The car is slow at 20psi. That is all for today.

Steven

I like it a lot more than the 5000lbs of piping, pumps, and water you had last time around.

Been busy. With the countless trips to the welder getting the design down for the new fuel system and basically keeping a fire under his ass, here is the first part of the next evolution in the car.

The pictures speak for themselves. But I will give a little run down.

Built a switch panel that will also hold the parachute release handle
Got the new -4 vacuum line setup more or less ready to drop in
Added a 5" stack to the inlet of the turbo. While we were in there we added a -10 male bung to recirculate the crankcase pressure(IE- vacuum pump)
Not pictured is the valve cover with its single -10 vent
Ditched the catch can
Relocated the battery finally after over three years
Upgraded the 40A cut off switch to a 175A
Picture showing the empty engine bay with no battery now

Pictures hopefully coming soon of the complete vacuum setup. The fuel system is still 6-8 weeks out from being done, so nothing to show yet.

Here you go.

any turbo inlet will greatly benefit froma bellmouth intake.

a 35r honda with a 4" inlet would repeatably gain 60 hp on the dyno with a bell mouth placed over the intake pipe (it went away when removed) it doesent have to be anything special, just something to smooth airflow over a 90dg corner.

otherwise, looks pretty good, keep it up,

You mean opening up what I have to look like a bell?

Not going ot happen. Another reason for doing this was so I could put an air fliter over the inlet. Mainly for the salt. I could not run an air filter before because the wastegate dump tube went directly in front of the inlet of the turbo. When I sent it out the hood, the plan was to add the breather setup and work towards having a filter on there.

Things are looking really good now. Been making really good money lately and had no choice but to spend it on the colt.

I will have the awesome pictures on monday when my shipment comes in from magnafuel. But these are the parts I have in hand today. I am moving along nicely for a change. Most likely will be buying the parachute before the end of the month.

5 gallon JAZ fuel cell

Fuel cell brackets, 100psi mechanical fuel gauge, -10 bulkhead fitting for cell, -8 cap for extra feed for cell, 1/8npt to -4 fitting for boost reference for new regulator.

Alright, I can't help myself. Went out and got the fuel cell in. Got all the bulkhead fittings put in their proper places. Only thing left from todays purchases are the boost fitting and gauge. That will get installed next week after all the big stuff comes in.

Here is tonights progress.

View of the rear of the car now. All that is left back here is a firewall for the water tank and fuel cell.

Putting a head on here is going to change the static compression ratio. But according to my compression tester, I did not lose any compression when this head went on. There are calculators out there, but I am not interested in punching the numbers in. I went with a 2.0L head because I thought I had lifted the 1.6L. When in fact it was just the large cooling system just expanding way more than I had anticipated.

I bought my fiance a new mini laptop two weeks ago, so I claimed her laptop as mine finally. It is on its third battery so it needs to be plugged in full time now. Too cheap to buy another battery. I have had an inverter for about five years and bounced it from car to car. Never mounting it because I would use it to tune other cars a lot. I don't do any tuning any more, so I figured it was time to mount the laptop and inverter in the car. Here you go.

Inverter mounted and hardwired into the car.
