I bought one can and had some left over. I sprayed the paint directly onto the manifold without using primer.

I wouldn't beadblast the valve cover for the simple fact that there are baffles on the underside for the PCV system and media can end up in there. I would use a paint stripper like Air Craft Remover. Just wear gloves because it is quite aggressive and can cause skin irritation.

Thats what I did. A pressure washer helps too. It will blast away the old paint once the paint stripper has loosened it up. I have seen people take the baffles out and bolt them back on but that looks like a lot of extra work.

If you stop by a dirt bike/quad/sled shop you can pick up some fiberglass packing for mufflers. Or just order it online, make sure when you wrap the baffled pipe with the packing that you make another sleeve type of thing over the packing to hold it in tight or it will blow apart way too soon.

Wow!! Thats all I can say, the attention to detail on this engine is amazing, I wish I had a garage to do this in. I use that wrinkle paint wherever I can. Looks great!! I have that same valve cover on ebay, gonna sell for about $30 if anyone is interested..

Have you made anymore progress Chris? Or are the Holidays and the new garage taking their toll on your free time?

Man, I've been the biggest slacker lately but this thing will run again I promise. I started working full time again about 3 weeks ago and I've just been hanging with the family on the weekends.

I haven't even started on the garage yet. Just planning for now and it will be early spring before I actually start on it.

That may be the best update :) Good to hear you are working again. I can't really say much about slow progress... you don't even want to know where my project stands

Yep, another year that flew by. I was reading back over this thread the other day and thought this line was funny.

Family is far more important than a CSM. I was hoping to have my car ready for the shootout but the motor isn't even built yet :D Keep being a productive member of society and the colt will get done when she is ready.

I guess you could call this progress. A buddy of mine that owns a super clean low mileage 92 GVR4 made me the deal of a life-time on some spare parts that he had sitting around.
