Are you new to welding, or had any experience before doing this conversion? I know that once I learn to weld, it will be impossible to get myself away from it. hehehe

you aint kiddin, i already started getting the order together for the fuel cell the fittings, pump, filter, steel braided lines etc. and holy jesus h. christmas christ that shit is expensive! but im going with quality stuff and -8AN lines because im switching to E85. i got my 1600's yesterday  Quote: This looks good, for sure. I know that once I learn to weld, it will be impossible to get myself away from it. hehehe i have no experience with awd swaps but i've built a few cars and a couple 20's and 30's hotrods with the old man. my last car was a 2nd gen rx7 with a v8  and before starting this AWD business i was very close to ditching the turbo 4 all together and installing an LS1.. (zips up flame proof suit) thank you guys for the kind words, its having someone interested in my nonesense that keeps me out in the garage gouging holes in my car.. and fingers

i'll try and find those pics of the front mounting spots, its a little harder to get pics of, and my choice was a little less eligant than some others on here, i just welded the DSM "triangle" mounts to the 2x2 square tubing and welded that to the frame rails. heres one i could find.. i think this is still in the mockup stage here, but you can see the blue jack holding up the front bar and if you look close you can see the triangle mounts are tacked to the 2x2 bar.  and i kinda didnt want to post this pic because of the shoddy work i done on this part of the conversion. after looking at the incredible MS recycling swap i look like a boner.  stay safe in the sandbox MRHYDE. my dad just got back from saudi arabia and he hasnt complained about the 100 degree temps back home in the midwest since he's like "shit, its that hot at night in the middle east."Colt200: yes ass up ready for the insertion of some traction.. haha |

A tad off topic....but this question has bothered me for some time: How do you ensure that the AWD subframe gets positioned ABSOLUTELY perfect, meaning perfectly in the wheel wells and not crooked or slightly twisted in any way? Do you just eyeball it and then correct any imperfections with an alignment? |
