I know i can use 10W30 in the engine.. But im wondering if it would be a good idea to run synthetic oil beacuse it is a high preformance engine.. or just run regular 10W30?

The engine has around 200 000 km's on it.

I'd run a high mileage oil for a while unless you are completely rebuilding to battle sludge buildup (like sensitive toothpaste) then move onto bigger and better things.

200,000km's, is like 124,274 miles, unless you've totally rebuilt the motor like 20-30thousand miles, DO NOT go to a full synthetic oil such as AMSOIL. It will cause your motor to leak and seep!!!

stick with regular oil.

are you rebuilding it, or just a straight rip'n'plop into a colt?

synthetic is way better

add a front cover gasket set and take the goddamn balance shafts out while the motor is out

and synthetic is a better oil no matter which way you look at it

Im a true believer that fresh oil is waaaaay better than expensive oil. Besides, high mileage 63T's usually push out oil all over the place. I say, dinosaur oil till you rebuild!

most definetly - but if the motors outta the car - you have no excuse - not hard to pull the front cover and replace all the seals back there....valve cover gasket(s) are cake.....only thing thats kinda a PITA are the cam seals - since you have to bleed down the lifters

damn only one here that knows whats going on, lol, a SYNTHETIC will cause seeps and leaks, and you might just get a big enough leak where you can lose alot of oil and oil pressure then possibly blow the motor... don't bother with synthetic right now, just use a decent quality petroleum,

IT WILL LEAK, AND WILL LEAK BAD!

good luck with which ever you choose.

Since you cleaned the engine compartment on the summit, how bad does the oil leak? Went to synthetic with over 149k on the motor.

it really depends on the motor and condition of all the seals and gaskets, my 4g15 leaked like crazy when I put it on Amsoil synthetic, so I switched back to regular oil so i don't waste my money as much for oil.

and it IS recommended not to switch over high mileage vehicles to a good quality synthetic(AMSOIL), since it does provoke leaks(takes out deposits left from regular oil, and some of those deposits are actually sealing things up)

I wish I could run my 4G61T on AMSOIL, but I don't wanna risk it start to leak oil... I guess it MIGHT be ok... as it only has 50k on it.... but idk... never too sure with these mitsu's as they always leak...
