Post subject:  Expo brakes and hubs on stock 13's?

If I upgrade to 92-96 Mitsubishi Expo knuckles, hubs and brakes has anyone tried to use the stock colt 13" wheels?

If I'm reading correctly the bolt patterns are the same for the 4 lug wheels.

I'm looking to upgrade to expo knuckes to eliminate the captive rotor. And also have better stopping power after my 4g63t swap. Hoping to keep it stock looking. Baby blue sleeper!

Car is a 91 dodge Colt 1.5L.

Thanks,

Matt

I don't believe so. You could always use steelies from a galant though.

Please put your location in your profile too.

Aww. That stinks.

Is anyone out there running the stock colt brakes with the captive rotor with a 4g63t? Any issues with this?

Thanks,

Matt

I'm located in Buffalo NY

I am. I have the sedan vented disks and a 15/16" MC. No issues thus far but I haven't really gotten on the brakes either.

I ran my 63t swap with factory brakes for over a year. The car is light enough that it isn't that big of a deal, just use some good pads. You're only going to get one or two stops from triple digit speeds before they fade though.

Get bigger brakes because even a modern Honda Civic can out brake you now.

I see guys with 250 HP engines and no way of safely braking from high speeds. Just not enough surface area and pressure. I couldn't believe how bad the brakes on my two other 4g15 cars. Brake fade, yeah almost went into an intersection the first time it happened to me with the piss poor factory non vented rotors. Press the pedal all you want, you won't stop any quicker.

Check out the other brake upgrade threads and modify the hub to accept Galant rotors, and install twin piston stuff with a new master and booster and call it good or do the Expo knuckle upgrade for non captive also. Elantra will be captive just like factory turbo Colt/Mirage stuff.
