Post subject:  Cyclone Intakes Differences
Cyclone conversation came up the other day. I have notice 2 different dual runner intakes and just heard about a third. I have two of them and thought I would post pictures and start a conversation.

So what cars came with each one? I have heard rumours but never had first hand experience. I was told that my ECI Multi Turbo Intercooler came from a 92 GVR4 but I am hear for facts not what someone told me.

The first two are exactly the same, just called something different. Runner length, plenum size, etc. are identical. No US car ever came with a dual-runner manifold, that I'm aware of. I'm not sure about that 3rd one, but it also looks basically the same, except with an EGR hook-up.

The thrid one (mine), is an AMG dual runner manifold. Larger plenum, longer runners, etc.

Mitsu had a Galant VR-4 AMG model that the 3rd one came on. It was mainly an appearance package. They were all Auto's I believe, and the intake gave them a little bump in power, but also looked cleaner and set the AMG apart from the "run-of-the-mill" vr-4.

Not a VR-4, just a standard Galant with the upgrade package. They weren't AWD or 4WS or anything like that. It's true they were all non-turbo, automatic and FWD. This car was also never sold in the US. It was a lot more than an appearance package. They made 170hp N/A, which is about 30hp more than the standard N/A 4G63's made in JDM land. They had different cams and higher compression (I think). The larger plenum and longer runners would help optimize the N/A powerband, but it would be helpful with boost as well. I'd love to try one if I could get my hands on one.

This website shows details of a manual 5 speed AMG and I can confirm this as I have an AMG engine sitting in my shed with a manual flywheel on it and the car it came out of was most definately a manual AMG

I am from NZ and although these cars aren't very common there are a few of them around
