I have done some searching and have come up empty handed. With Curt brown and his magic fairy dust bringing 2G heads into popularity-it has me thinking about 4G61t heads since the look, well about the same! Has anyone compared them back to back-or at least side by side?

Last time looked it was like a 2g head. I have never measured the ports with a graduated cylinder, but the gaskets are the same. Measure the volume if you have access to both and let us know. All I have access to is a 1G head.

I have a 4G61 head-I will grab a 2g that a buddy has on the shelf

This may seem like a stupid comment, but has anyone ever successfully bolted a 4g61 head onto a 4g63 block? Isn't the bore size quite a bit different? It would raise compression as well, not that that's a big deal.

Yes. The car did not seem to run any different.

Yes and there is no physical reason it would not work (unless you had some fancy pistons. ):)

Though I really have nothing of value to add, I am anxious to hear what you determine JP.
I got a fully machined 61T head still in plastic from the machine shop after the rightful owner left the bill unpaid for over 2 years.
For $50 I figured it would be a nice ready-to-run spare. 8)

Would be fun to pair it with a EVO I-III intake manifold. I think it would be pretty cool to try it out.

Find me one-I'd be glad to try it :)

I'd like to see this done with the runner fill and a cyclone intake...

Search up lancerman s posts and you will find his head combination, block and intake setup. He was holding his own with high end street bikes on the highway!

Just took measurement of the ports on a 4g61t, 4g63t 1G heads and a Cyclone dual runner intake manifold.

I also have a 4g61t head (as pictured in the album) that is in perfect working order, fresh machine work and then low miles run before teardown. Just machined the 1G head going back on the 4g63t in the car. Decisions.

No access to a graduated cylinder to check volume of the actual virgin intake ports on the 4g61 head.

No measuring cup or mixing cup with fluid increment lines in the kitchen?

If you want a cylinder head with the ports like the 2g, just go for the Hyundai 4g63 (g4cp) cylinder head, they have the shape of a 1g head with the bolt holes ready for 6 bolt and the ports are pretty much like 2g's...

Hadn't thought that far into it. Great idea! I do have something kicking around here, I'm sure.
