Hi guys im having troubles with my 2nd and 4th gear shifting.And im thinking that they have a longer travel.Im using dsm cables.Are the original csm cables shorter than the dsm's??

I don't think DSM cables work because I do believe they are longer than CSM cables. So, unless the shifter body is moved backwards, it's not an easy cure without changing to the appropriate CSM cables.

For the transmission to shift the absolute best you need to have all the associated mechanisms as a complete set. Meaning you need to have a matching set of shifter arms on the transmission, shift cables and base. Mixing and matching leads to a variety of shifting issues, usually culminating in worn syncros or broken shift forks.

Modifications can be made to whatever hardware you are using to make it work but getting it just right is a pain.

Ok guess my hatch has the dsm ones because of the lenght.I might need the original csm ones. Thanks guys!!!

I just installed a 1g DSM shifter cable on my Colt and yeah they are longer than CSM shifter cables, its working fine i guess it's just that they're too long, does anyone knows if the 93-up CSM cables fits on 89-92 CSMs? are they longer too?

They do but depending on trim model they may not be adjustable.

I used Galant VR4 cables on my car. I had to modify where the cables bolt to the trans a little, but no big deal. Shifts fine.
