So a little frustrated with the tranny again. When the 63t went in 2007 TRE did a complete rebuild and it shifted great for a couple years except for a slight grind into 3rd when pushing it. This past year has been crap with not being able to rush any gear change or get lots of grinding and have already broken one shift fork(got a used one had a local shop put it in). Normal driving it shifts like butter, but not at the drags or at high rev's-why not? |

What kind of clutch are you using and are the hydraulics still working well? |

What are you using for fluid? For me, fluid makes a difference. |

New last year clutch is Fidenza V2, which replaced the act 2100 when the shift fork went in. The 2100 shifted the same but when had the trans out might as well replace clutch. Not sure of the fluid but was bled and refreshed with same fluid my bud uses on his 700 hp 2g. |

Wonder if you and I should do the standing/clutch in/1st gear/6-7000 RPM test to see if the car moves forward at all, on level ground and no brake. I'll check mine tomorrow! I was having syncro issues, so switched to another KM210. Was better but couldn't shift high RPM at all without really pushing that shifter. So, I installed urethane mounts at all four corners, and it helped tons. Still not what I would call a double syncro shift, but I've only taken the car to 6-7000 RPM for two short instances, while burning the tires a bit. Had to see how it would perform. I've had third lockout once, while showing the higher RPM to a friend. My solution was to pickup a used, built F5M33. I just tore it down to change out to a limited insert diff, and pull the overheated welded center diff. I need to swap shifter arms and brackets. You learn a whole bunch about the condition of the gears and dog teeth when you get inside the trans. I could recommend taking the trans apart and see how it looks. Bitch to pull it out I know. With 12 and 14mm sockets, a big breaker bar/ratchet and a 36mm socket, you can tear the fifth assembly loose and get the case separated. Even used a MAC wiper arm remover and some spacers to pull fifth and fifth intermediate gears off, went to VFAQ for that one. KM210 should be almost identical in this regard. I found lots of metal chips in my trans .... dog teeth from reverse and some other gears. Even have a chipped 5th gear tooth. So, I have a nearly antique car that shifts better into second than my 2004 Passat 1.8T. Gear clash at low RPM, tells me shaft speed is too high and syncros must be wearing out. I could be wrong, but I can't feel any issue into 3rd or 4th or 5th. |

I was referring to fluid in the trans. Syncro mesh? |

It would have to be GL-4 type only and not GL-5. Puttin that out there, as early 87-90+ transmissions using fibrous syncros will not cut the slick GL-5. KM210 and F5M33's take GL-4. I used syncro-mesh for some time with the KM-210 I have installed now. Switched the Redline MT-90 GL-4 last summer and it is working great so far. $16 /quart locally. |

Good to know. Now I need to look for an empty bottle and see what I put in mine. |

Important information here : http://www.teamrip.com/manual_transmiss ... _info.html http://www.jackstransmissions.com/pages/oil Like Tim, we need GL-4 oil only. Our transmission have brass synchro and GL-5 fluid is not friendly with him Best result with 3 quart of MT90 2 quart of MT90 mixed with 1 quart of MTL work great from some users I you have the money : Mitsubishi Diaqueen |

Jacks sells parts, but best to email/call to confirm pieces to kit a KM210 if any different from a DSM trans setup of similar vintage. http://www.jackstransmissions.com/pages/dsm-selection Or back to the source: http://www.teamrip.com/rebuild%20kit%20info.html If only a few parts need changing, no big deal, but it has to come out again. If any dog teeth are too worn, then that could be an issue also. |
