So, I have replaced the cams with new seals (272s), cam gears (HKS), idler pully is good, tensioner pully new, brand new Gates timing belt, tension set to .157. Ran the motor with just the timing belt on and I can't see and pulleys wobbling or out of round but the belt is walking very noticably. Basically the same amount of walking as it was before I changed those things. Any ideas?

I'm going to tear everything back apart in the next couple days and see if there is anything I missed.

I will also add that the belt never over hangs the cam gears at any point.

were the cams replaced with all this stuff..or were they in there when it happened before? the face where the gear goes might not be perfect and could be causing it.. (if those are the only thing you didnt replace)...

Idler on the correct way? Not even sure if you can put it on backwards or not.

Something about the backing washer in the crank pulley comes to mind? Flipped wrong way? Not much else can cause a belt to walk off unless it is being angled at some point, or being pushed/contacted.

Yeah it's good, impossible to install back-wards.

I was actually just looking at that last night Flying Eagle, good thought, basically it wouldn't run if the plate was installed backwards BUT the plate does bow out on the circumference and is pretty dang sharp and comes very close to the belt but I'm gonna need a little mirror and some more time invested. I've thought about tapping it so it's flat around the edge but I got to see if it is indeed what's rubbing first. I also checked for crankwalk and the play is about .002-.003 but I was pretty damn scared for minute there lol

So I'm going to wake this back up because I am still having the timing belt walk issue. After maybe 100 miles it is starting to show material loss. Like I said the cams are new, the idler and tensioner pullys have been swapped with known good ones and the crank sprocket and oil pump sprockets don't appear to be bent. Tension is set to spec. I haven't been able to locate any belt shavings or debris yet. As far as I know the motor has been doing this since I purchased it. Any ideas would be very helpful.

Absolutely no shavings anywhere along the path of the belt? On the water pump, on the timing cover yada yada yada. If you are loosing material it is going somewhere.

Are you sure it's rubbing on the sides? I know that if you put one of the long oil pan bolts in the wrong spot it will make contact with the belt. Did you have the pan off recently? It's probably not your issue but ya never know.

It's actually walking back and forth, you can see it at idle. So I decided to mark the sides of the belt with a sharpe marker to see where exactly it would be rubbing then I was gonna use whiteout and look for the flakes but the marker never got rubbed off of the belt, and now I just think I'm going crazy. I will monitor the issue and post pics if the belt starts looking smaller. If someone can give me the exact width of a good condition belt that would help so I can compare and check progrees with a good baseline.

Balance shaft removed? I know that damn BS belt can be a mysterious bastard at times! It seems that everything else has been covered so I'm at a loss for ideas as well.
