Hi, I need your advise, I ll replace my timing belt, as you now I´m from Costa Rica, so i´ll have to buy it online, on ebay, amazon whatever. Is my first time doing this so i need your help. 1) What belt to buy: HKS or Gates, the gates is cheaper. 2) What online shop is better? Again considering that in Costa Rica, Thanks guys |

Quote: Hi,
Why do you want an HKS or Gates belt? A stock timing belt works just fine. You can get it from eBay, or Amazon. You can also try vendors like JNZTuning, extremepsi, or MAPerformance. They are very reputable, but I don't know if they will ship to Costa Rica.

As Tonus stated, and was well put for doing so, OEM is your best option and nothing wrong with it. You can buy more expensive options, but you likely don't need it. Just make sure you are getting the correct belt and tooth count, the 4g61 and 4g63 belts are like a 2 tooth difference. You would have to look hard to find a 4g61 belt I think. Also if you have balance shafts installed, replace that belt and pulley at the same time, also water pump if it has not been done recently or you will be doing all this over again. Replace the pulleys for the timing belt and the tensioner and tensioner arm. You are going to be spending some money to do this, so one stop shopping might be your best option. |

Thanks, wow this really help me! Ok I think i´ll change it for the stock one, I can find it easily here in Costa Rica. I do have the balance shafts eliminated so i´ll take note of your advices and change all that parts. I just scared because one year and a half ago I broked the timing belt and it was a complety disaster. I thought that with a HKS or Gates blue timing belt, the chances of that happend again will be lower. Thanks again. |

Rockauto is good too. You can get an entire kit (gates) that includes everything except water-pump and tensioner for less than $80. It gets you all new pulleys |

Rockauto.com is AWESOME Fast shipping, proper tracking #, and they always send a little magnet in their shipments, lol. I've got 6-7 of them on my toolbox now |

Curious. Does their shipping always come out as expensive as it pre-calculates on their site. I was looking at smaller items and shipping to Canada was rediculous using their calculator. Trying to figure out if I should buy from them again or if it's all lost in shipping and duties and such. Sorry a little OT. |
