Yes. That plug has to be grounded. When you touch that prong to ground your hear the motor bog down

Will he need to ground the plug in the car at the DLC connector? I remember something about this being grounded when you datalog with a Palm Pilot but not sure if only the firewall plug must be grounded.

Just the plug on the firewall to set timing.

Okay one more question before i try and set the timing. When i get it all hooked up and ready to check the timing..just say i check it and its off..do i have to shut off the car before i turn the cam sensor??

No you keep the car running and slowly turn the cam sensor until the mark reads 5 degrees.

Make sure you clean your crank pulley with some fine grit sand paper and put the white out on the notch on the pulley so you can be sure your setting the timing accurately. It's really difficult to see what your doing with the pulley all grimey.

Ps...you'll need to put your location in you profile. (Forum rules)

I just want to clarify a couple things about this firewall plug. 1. Is the plug already grounded to the car or do i actually have to run a ground wire from the plug? 2. The ground from the timing light needs to be attached to the ground i mentioned in question one?

1.Image

You physically need to ground the plug

2. Image

Hook up the positive/negative to battery. Hook up wire clamp to number one cylinder. (Wire closest to timing side. )
