Hey All,

What's everyone using on their 89 GT's or converted turbo hatchback's for a muffler? A few years ago I had mounted a cheap one straight back but it never looked the best and didn't mount great with the rear axle being there, I'm most likely going to use one side mounted this time similar to factory but to accomodate 2.5 inch exhaust

So I'm looking for some suggestions, pics would be great :) Anyone using one in one out? one in 2 out?

Thanks,
Jim

I prefer using an in-line glasspack then having just strait pipe sticking out of the back of the car. You could also use an in-line glasspack and whatever tip on the end of the pipe you desired to achieve a certain look.

I can't just use straight pipe because I have to make the car pass an MVI inspection so I'll most likely need some sort of muffler on there :-?

A glasspack is a muffler. But it does not have to be put at the end of the exhaust, it can be used in the middle or wherever you wish.

3 in. stainlees downpipe into 3 in. exhaust cutout with factory piping attached on the other end. The most performance you will get out of an exhaust and quietest too! It's what i plan on running. The price on them has come down considerably also, try ebay.

This is what was on the car when I got it and was too quiet. Looks to be a magnaflow camaro style muffler, 3"in and 2 2" out. Ended up putting this on my Silverado.

Then ended up putting another 3" dynomax bullet on it in the rear and had a great throaty sound. It has one in place of the cat also.

I used that same muffler (except mine wasn't polished) on my 98 GSX with a 35R. I ran it with a 3" Magnaflow high-flow cat; no resonators, and it sounded mean. Nice and low without the obnoxious drone at cruise.
