ok guys my motor is finally in the car. It is a 4G63 in what used to be an automatic sedan (overdrive automatic). I used Chris's mounts and adapter harness. The motor dropped in easily just as if i were putting a motor back in a dsm. the problem i am seeing is that it seem like the timing side of the motor is sitting lower and the trans side is higher than they should be. I know that it is not just an illusion because as we speak the trans is resting on the frame rail (or inner fender well, what ever you call it). What i have for motor mounts exactly is...

1.elantra timing mount from chris
2.stock 4g63 awd front engine bracket with stock 4g15 front rubber crossmember mount
3.rear 4g63 engine bracket modified by chris with stock 4g15 rear rubber crossmember mount
4.modified trans mount by chris.

I am using a factory turbo csm km210 that i got from chris a while back. i grabbed a few pics with my phone if they help. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Not an answer to the tilt, which appears to be too high on the trans side, but is that RTV that was used to put on the end case for the transmission? Anerobic sealer is what should be used there, it cures in the absence of oxygen or whatever. Just a thought, or keep an eye on it.

I didn't know that. I'll keep an eye on it. but Dogboxracing built it and their evo traps 170mph so I have some trust in them. :D

Im not sure why I didn't take a pic of the trans mount. But chris called me and told me he's going to mail me his front motor mount off his car because the 4g63 mount is not supposed to work properly with the swap. (which is what I have)

...and this was not his fault what so ever. I accidentally threw out the 4g15 mount so I used the 4g63, so he's going to send me the right one to help me out.

Yeah I'm almost positive that the front dsm engine mount is putting the tranny mount in a bind causing it not to line up correctly.

I had the same problem when i first did my swap. Definitely change the front roll mount to a 4g15. Your trans mount will need to be slightly modified for the engine to sit level. Just drill another hole in the trans mount that bolts to the fenderwell. You want the hole about an inch lower than the position it's in now. That should bring the engine back to a level position. I will try to get a pic of my mount soon to post it up for you.

Your problem is definitely the 4g63 front bracket. Get the right one in there and everything should be good.

Well all of you guys are making me feel better. I'm glad it's a simple fix. (hopefully). I'm not to sure if I'm seeing the problem you guys had with the trans mount tho. I'll double check.

By any chance are you using urethane engine mounts?

The engine in my Galant sat wrong just like what your engine is doing. It was due to the urethane engine mounts being installed incorrectly.

With all of the other posts regarding what the problem IS; I am not stating that my THOUGHT is correct, it is just a thought. LOL

The front roll mount will only change the position of the motor front to back, not side to side. From your pictures i can tell the motor isn't sitting level, side to side. That is also why the trans is hitting the fenderwell. The best way to find the spot where a new hole needs to be drilled is remove the through bolt on the trans mount. Let the motor settle by jostling it around a little. Where the rubber mount bolt hole now sits is where you want to drill the new hole in the bracket.

The trans mount is not connected at all. The only mounts that are holding the motor in are front, rear, and timing. And no, this mount not being connected is not the reason the motor is leaning.
