Looking to build my 6bolt. I'm keeping it a 2.0 with .20 over.. Stock crank. Either going to go with eagle rods and wiesco pistons or manley rods and pistons.. Both hbeam rods also. Anyone have any experience? I have heard that eagles quality is lacking these days? |

Everyone is going to have a differing opinion on this, it depends on who you ask. The machinist who built my motor was all about JE pistons, so that's what I have in my motor. JE pistons with Eagle Rods. This combo has worked fine for me, my built motor has over 40,000 miles on it and still takes a brutal beating, but it does get a LOT of piston slap when it's cold. A lot of that has to do with how it was machined, it's a loose motor. Lots of people like Wiseco pistons, lots of people like CP pistons, and so on. Just get whatever is the most easily accessible for you and you should have good results. |

I have heard eagle started out sourcing the rods to be mass produced and they aren't as good as before. Also heard Weisco build quality has gone done. Any truth to this? |

Eagle rods are definitely made in China, as are many many others. The quality control is a lot more important than where the part is built.

H beam rods give you 3 basic options in the same price range. You have Eagle, Scat and Manley. I haven't seen or heard anything that makes one better then others. For pistons I like Mahle but that's because they are one of the tighter and lighter weight pistons you can get for a good price. |
