I hopped in my car to leave work, started it up and thought it was fine. pulled out of the parking lot and down the road to the stop sign. hit the clutch and then it happened: The RPM's jumped up then plummeted and bounced around a little bit before finally settling at around 1450. I can see that being ok when the car is cold, but it's 65 today, and the car continued to do it all the way to walmart (about 17 miles) every time I'd stop. I get to walmart and shut the car of, deposit my check in the bank come back out start the car up and the RPM's drop down to around 600 like normal and the car runs fine all the way home. idk what caused it or what happened. anyone else had this happen? |

It's a Mitsubishi. They are bound to have idle problems. It could be any number of things. Vacuum leak, bad TPS, bad ISC valve, the list goes on. Do some searching on here, there are tons of threads that refer to idle problems. |

it was just crazy that it was doing it to walmart then after I shut the car off and restarted it did it no more. Might have been electrical. We just got a few inches of rain and I accidentally splashed through a deeeep puddle on my way to work. |

You could also pull out the ECU and check the capacitors and make sure they aren't leaking. |
