check the connections on the alt. have the battery tested to make sure it doesn't have a dead cell. make sure the alt belt is tensioned properly and is not just slipping on the pulley.

Well check tomorrow, my belt did squeal when it was very cold out at nite, i have an extra ecu i can also try. If the belt is to tight would it kill the alt? It only squeals after i get off shirt. I work 3rd and North Carolina weather has been cold like 15-20 degrees when i get off.

check the charging/alternator fuse. Usually a bad one will look like a bad alternator. Also a overcharging alternator (a common problem)will kill the fuse before frying your car or battery.

The cause:
Early Mistu's alternators have junk power regulators. Even brand new/rebuilt ones have the issue. It's just luck of the draw, I went through 3 different fuses, and 2 alternators till I got mine to work. Luckely Autozone/Kragen/Checkers/Oriely's have lifetime warrentys on Mitsubishi rebuilt alternators.
