So i have got the car back on the road and seem to be having a couple issues. When i get into boost it is very very laggy! I dont start building until 5k ish on a 16g! and by 7k its at 20psi and seems to want to keep going but i run out of rpm. Also through shifts i lose all boost and start off sluggish into the next gear. The cars basic mods are 16g, link, 255, 780cc, gm maf/maft and on the stock 4g61t motor. What do you 61ers spool at and with what turbo. i mean this 16g isnt shit. Can anyone lead me on to the right direction? Is there a link setting im messing up, boostleak, exhuast manifold leak, bad MBC. I had to park the car tonight so i didnt check any of the basics but will tomorrow afternoon. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks chris

Does your car have an intercooler? Have you done a compression test on the engine? My 4g61t spooled right around the same with a 16g when it was bone stock and had 50psi compression in the #4 cylinder.

I had the same issue, but I found there was a hole in my brand new vacuum hose that I put on my blow off valve, this by the way is really bad for the turbo :x . The air is forced onto the throttle plate and then the pressure waves come back and slow down the turbo really fast. Supposedly it's really bad for the bearings.

If that's not it, I would look for boost leaks with a boost leak tester(something I'm going to do once I decide to -turn up the boost). Could also be a leaky bov.

Also you could have a bad exhaust seal(the seals themselves, or broken bolts) between the turbo and the exhaust manifold (like tony's gsx  ).<-BTW we got a sneak peak at tonys gsx at yoshifab

yeah fmic kit with a 1g dsm bov. you think that could be leaking or not holding boost?

It's possible, but if it was leaking that bad it would probably be bucking or stuttering. Do a compression test, make sure the motor is in good shape. These are not torquey engines at all. Your spool time probably isn't gonna change that much even with everything working properly.

also could it be just running so rich that the cylinder walls are washed with fuel?

Yeah.

Did you do a compression test yet?

The car feels great. Just takes forever to build boost. At around 4500sh it starts to build, and hits 20psi at 7k. If it were my car I would take the car to 7500-8ish... Car keeps building power.

Maybe there's an exhaust leak somewhere? Cracks in the turbine housing around the wastegate flapper?
