Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in Newbie Tech, mods feel free to move it.

I'm looking at buying an aftermarket ECU sometime in the next few months and getting a decent tune done since i'm running around untuned at the moment and don't really trust my VR-4 ECU to be up to the task. I will be going for a Link G4 VR-4 plug in... but that's another topic...

Basically i'm currently running 1 bar daily and it goes alright. I'm looking to raise that to 16-17psi daily when i've got my tune sorted, and maybe 22psi-24psi at the track. At the moment i'm running Evo 3 510cc injectors. I figure it would be a good idea to upgrade to something a bit larger when tune time rolls round, but i'm not sure what to buy. SBR have a special on at the moment (650cc, 750cc and 850cc are $249, 950cc are $279) so it looks like now is a pretty good time to buy. Given my setup below, which injectors should I choose?

4G63T
4 layer Mitsubishi steel headgasket
ARP head studs
SARD fuel pressure regulator
HKS adjustable cam gears
Balance shafts removed
Steve Murch MSE TD05/06 Grand National Hybrid turbo
TRR stainless exhaust manifold
TiAL MV-S 38mm wastegate off custom dump pipe
3" mandrel bent exhaust
R32 GTR intercooler
2.5" intercooler piping
3" intake pipe
Evo 9 GT blow off valve
4G63N/A intake manifold / throttlebody
K&N filter
TopGun 8.8mm Leads
Walbro 255lph fuel pump

Thanks :)

I'm not a fan of the 650, 750, 850, etc. injectors that all the different DSM vendors sell. Those injectors are made by Rochester. OEM Mitsu injectors are made by Denso. The two are very different. The Rochester injectors will work, but they have different dead-time than the stock injectors and a totally different spray pattern, and you'll have a little bit of trouble tuning them in my opinion. Denso injectors are a lot more expensive, but you get what you pay for. With that said, I think something in the 650cc range is good, maybe more. If I were you, I would get either Denso 660cc or Denso 720cc injectors, should be enough fuel for your needs. I have the Denso 660cc injectors on my Mirage on a mostly stock setup, and the car idles and drives like a totally stock car. You would never know it had bigger injectors. I also average 30mpg with combined city and highway driving.

Awesome, that's the kinda info I was after! Thanks Cap'n!

I'd rather buy something future proof, because of course, no matter how fast the car is, it's never fast enough. So with that in mind, the Denso 720cc's will be good enough for say daily driving and the occasional track outing at up to 25psi on my turbo, which is basically the equivalent of a TD05/06 25G (a tad bigger)?

Yeah, 720's should be good. Especially if you're running higher octane gas. What octane gas do you guys get out there?

Sweet. We kinda got shafted when it come to gas over here. Most petrol stations sell 91 and 95 RON but you do come across the occasional BP or Mobil that sells 98 RON, which is what I put in my car. From what I understand, our 98 RON is equivalent to your USA 93 MON?

Interesting. Yeah, you should be good. If you can get leaded race gas over there that would be the best to run when you take the car racing.

Actually while i'm at it, what's you're opinion on FIC injectors? A bit cheaper than the Denso's and i've noticed quite a few DSM'ers run them?

FIC injectors are made by Rochester. I'm not a fan of them, but lots of DSM guys use them and they work ok. If you're a good tuner it doesn't really matter. I just like the Denso because they require the least amount of work to make the car drive like stock with larger injectors.

Ah, got it. Will be getting it tuned by Speedtech Motorsport... you might know them as the guys who built Project DS9, the car that recently stole AMS' title of worlds quickest late model Evo

So the Rochester injectors will work just as well, but are harder to tune in? As much as i'd love to go with the Denso's, the FIC's are looking pretty attractive price-wise. If they're gonna give me/my tuner problems though, probably best to give them a miss.

If you were gonna run a standalone I'd say go with whatever injector you can get your hands on. If you're tuning on a stock ECU the Denso's will give you the least amount of effort. In the end, your car will probably run the same with either injector. It's just a matter of personal preference.

Injectors are injectors, as long as they're bigger than stock it's all good.

Yeah, going for a standalone Link G4 (http://www.linkecu.com/products/engine- ... ug-in-ecus). You may not have heard of it before because Link is a New Zealand company. I'd say they're the most commonly used standalone in NZ, most tuners here know them inside and out.

I think i'll go with FIC 750cc's :)
