Will the stock BOV work (work well) with a Evo III 16G turbo setup? If not what woul dbe a good direction to go in the world of BOV's? I don't want to vent to atmosphere. It's a California car and needs to pass smog! FYI I'm using a 2GMAF which I still need to wire up and I'm still looking for a cold air intake to hang on the end of the 2G maf. |

IIRC the stock 1g/vr4 BOV is good to 17-18psi. If it is crushed properly it can hold a little more. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. but unless you plan on running more than 20-22psi than it will be fine. you can test it with a boost leak tester. It puts compressed air in your system, turn it up and watch your boost gauge. you should be able to hear it leak at a certain point. I like TIAL bov but it won't help you because it vents to atmosphere...shrug |

Synapse's aren't cheap but they can be recirculated. |

Do BOV's wear out? Mine has 275K miles on it! I'm in the process of picking up some guages for this car including a boost guage. Guess I'll know then. I might wish to boost beyond 18lbs. Will the BOV be a limiting factor or some other device? |

No, BOV's do not wear out. If you have the BOV routing back in to the intake you probably wouldn't even notice it leaking, it's when you have it venting to the atmoshpere that it really becomes an issue. There are lots of little mods you can do to the 1g BOV to make it hold more pressure, such as crushing it in a vice to make it stiffer. I hear that! That's the same reason I didn't go with a stock 1g bov. I've got nearly twice as much into the parts I put in/on it than I bought the car for but that's just how it is for a csm'er.
