![]() Here is the Schematic, the purple wires you supply. The COP's are either from an Intrepid or a 300/m. it doesn't matter that it is labeled because 1&4 are the same and 2&3 are also. you can think of this as the front of the engine or the back |

I'm just wondering if its really a good mod or if it just looks cool. |

I really think it just looks cool more than anything... all you need is a good set of spark plugs and spark plug wires; and the stock 4G6X ignition setup will do the rest. I think the coil on plug setup is a waste of money, but it does look good. |

Just looks cool, The ignition system we have on our cars is good for over 600hp. The only thing this provides is a wire upgrade. what i mean by that is most autozone/stock/napa/stock replacement wires have hardly any insulation at all. High voltage can leak to other wires and the valve cover if the wires are old/cheapys, which means robbed power for most high hp aplications. |

Yeah, I meant aftermarket plugs and wires. I have NGKs and 8.5mm Magnecors and I love them! |

Yeah, upgrading the wires doesn't even do really matter. I run on NGK 7mm wires and I'm making well over 500hp at the crank, and I have no ignition issues. I have to gap my plugs to like .025" though. I've seen completely stock ignition systems on 9-second cars using NGK wires. |

Fwiw, some have reported that after swapping to a cop setup, there car seemed to idle a bit smoother and run cleaner, even on a close to stock car. I want to make one for the mighty max to simply eliminate the bulky coil from under the hood |

You're exactly right. The tune can be sloppier and still have the car run fairly strong, whereas a weaker ignition system exposes any tuning problems fairly quickly. Each of those 300m coils are supposedly rated for around 300hp a piece, how bout them apples, though it does no good to run those coils without an MSD box. The system will be weaker than stock without a use of an MSD box.

Over on some Evo site I notice that some have gone to 1G DSM coil packs as they can run more boost/gap then with the stock setup. |

Your right joggle, that is because 1G DSM coil packs are plenty for running whatever amount of power you desire. I'm not hating on the coil on plug setup, I just thing it's a waste of money unless you have a 700+ horsepower DSM. |

i found a bunch of intrepids at the pick and pull. they have the coil on plug but are the 2.7 liter engine. will these work or do you need the 3.5 or 3.2 COP? i looked around and did a google search and nobody really seems to mention the 2.7 thanks in advance, Craig |
