I was wondering if you guys know if it is possible to do a 4G63t into a non-mitsu car without to much fabrication?Would I need the FWD frontend?
P.S Its a Toyota with the 1zz

It's not even money, it's just brains. You can buy an entire beat 1g for a few hundred dollars, everything you'd really need would be there.

What's a 1zz motor? You mean 1jz? There's some bad ass Toyota engines out there that could possibly swap in, don't bother with Mitsu junk.

The 1ZZ-FE is a Toyota Celica GT motor. It was also used in Corollas and the MR-S Spyders. There's nothing special about that motor though, I think it makes like 140hp. If he's talking about putting a 4G63 in an MR-S I think that would be a retarded idea, and I'd definitely go for a 3S-GTE swap before swapping in a Mitsu motor and going through all that work. :hmph:

A 4G63 turbo and tranny have already been installed in a 1st gen MR2, so anythings possible.

The bigger issue is knowing what you are getting into.

If you HAVE to ask that question then the answer is NO. There is no
cross swap that will be easy and without much fabrication for YOU if you had to take the time to ask if it would it be easy or not.
What type of experience /money/tools do you have? Not that you have to publicly answer on this thread, but they are variables to take into consideration of you want to do a swap.


1. How will I mount this motor in the chassis?
2. Who will build the motor mounts and how much will they charge me if I'm not going to do the welding
3. Am I going to use a COMPLETE 4G63 wiring harness, or build a custom harness
4. How about my axles..... Do I go with shorthened/lengthened, beefed up axles, and how much will they charge me to mod them?
5. what radiator am I going to use?


There are probably 100 other questions that I could ask but you get the picture.

ok,my experience is not very good,but my dad has 30+ years,i have tools galore and its a toyota corolla,the reason i want a 4g63t instead of a 3sgte is that a mr2 clip costs me 4k+ and oi can get a decent condition dsm with 1k

If you have a Corolla like that WHY would you want to completely destory the car's purpose in life by installing a 4G63 into it? The Corolla is the ultimate reliable daily-driver man, that's it's intended use on this planet, don't go messing with that. If you want a 4G63 so bad then go out and buy a DSM! You've already got a reliable daily driver, so that will make owning a DSM that much more fufilling.

Swapping a 4G63 into a FWD Corolla would be insanely difficult, even though your Dad has all this experience at his fingertips, do you really think he wants to take on a project like that? You'd have to fab mounts, find some sort of axle combination that works, do tons and tons of wiring to make the ECU jive with the rest of the car, and so on and so forth. Forgive me for being so blunt, but it's a retarded idea.

if everyone had that mentality this forum wouldnt exist..

lancericgsr: if you have enough experience with the DSM cars you can pull it off.. but im sure it wont be cheap. almost everything about the project will be custom. that includes motor mounts,axles,shift cables,fuel lines and pump, throttle cable, radiator and hoses, wiring, intercooler pipes and core mounting, etc etc. but nothing is impossible, the 4g has been swapped into every kind of vehicle imaginable, from starions, to jeeps to rx7's to cavaliers... christ i bet right now someone is taking measurements for fitment into a snowblower.. :)

It would be easier to swap into a mirage, then put corolla body panels on the mirage trying to make it look like one. :lol:

If it was some unique swap, it would be a sweet idea. Unless you're "in the know" like everyone on this forum, 99/100 people in the real world think a corolla and a 4 door csm is the same car.

yes it could be said about a stock dodge colt but the colt is within the same platform...corolla you'd be customizing every aspect of it...and how about this I'll trade u my 92 dodge colt along with the parts to do the 5spd swap to it for ur corolla? ;-) if the rolla runs drives and will make it to florida

If say like 10 years ago someone came on a car forum and said i wanna put a talon motor in my mighty max truck, they would get laughed off the forum..
