question for you guys i have in the past installed a mitsu rubber plug for a bs elimination...and i coverd the whole thing in JB weld to ensure it didnt fall out.... well a few months later it did fall out.... so what do you guys use for a plug....the ol metal freezeplug? rubber? something else? |

I've never done the BS elimination, but from what I've heard, freeze plugs work very well. I'd imagine that using a soft brass one would work the best as it will deform and not break the surrounding aluminum on the hole. ...and JB weld sucks. Even an expandable rubber freeze plug would be better. |

I have used both rubber coated and aluminum, never had a problem with either, I used rtv on the rubber coated one, and jb weld on the al. one. All of the plugs I installed fit pretty tight as well. |

I like the rubber If it was installed correctly- and still came out, it sounds like you had excess crankcase pressure issues. |

I seem to remember switching broken lower oil pump housings from my cracked 1.6 unit (my fault) to the 1.8 Hyundai unit. I also switched the oil pump unit from both pumps, and had to remove the balance shaft kit from the 1.8 cover. So, I also had to remove the plug from the 1.6, but for the life of me, cannot remember what is holding it in there, anybody have a link to a pic of this little plug? |

Never had a probleam with the rubber plug use just a dap of RTV. If I am buying a new front case i get the 1.6l case as its already eliminated from the factory. |

Never had any issues with an inverted freeze plug laced in JB weld |

well i havnt even checked my oil pump yet to see what it looks like if i need a new pump ill prolly just pickup an entire 1.6 front cover which way did you guys install the rubber plug.... lip facing towards trans or lip facing towards t belt |

Rubber face toward the trans-in, metal side faces out. |
