I was wondering what kind of aftermarket blow-off valve I can put in my car? |

Whatever kind you want. My personal favorite is the Greddy Type-S for street driving. I'd stay away from the eBay knock-offs too, they don't work for shit. If you vent the BOV to the atmosphere the car won't run very well, unless you have a GM MAFT set up blow-thru or a VPC or something.

How's the volume on them? I want something I can hear, and that'll be cool enough to sound dope when I'm revving round the neighbourhood and stuff. |

The Greddy Type-S. They don't make them anymore, but you can find them used most of the time. Greddy came out with the Type-RS to replace the type-S, but I'm not really not a big fan of those, they shouldn't have messed with success.Quote: How's the volume on them? They sound awesome.

From my experience, the greddy type S leak-o-matic is totally hit or miss and definitely not worth your time and money. Either crush a 1g and save for a Tial, or just buy a Tial now. If you have to have a recirculating valve, then just crush the 1g. |

Interesting. I've always had a lot of success with my Type-S. It's hard to say how much better things would be with a TiAL, but I've never noticed mine having leaking issues. TiAL's are really great though also, just seems like they surge a lot during street driving.

Some of them don't, that's why.Quote:

I've seen several instances where type S valves leak past 24psi or so, and I've also seen them hold over 30psi. Of the many DSMers that I know who run gt40 compressors, which is a very surge prone compressor even with the ported shroud, and Tial valves, none of them have surge problems because of the Tial. I think it has to do with spring pressure myself. I run the softest, 7psi.

Yeah true. I've been running a Type-S for years, but I recently picked up a TiAL for my setup. I'm pretty sure it has the stiffest spring in it right now, I was thinking about changing it out for the sofest one.

I was running a 11psi spring and it definitely liked to chatter a lot on part throttle small boost cruising, like if I ran some midrange RPM and saw 5-9psi of boost and shifted gears. Also, I've never heard a valve as loud as the Tial. That thing is so god for saking loud you can easily hear it from 1/4mi away, and on high boost........holy shit. |

Yeah they sound mean as hell. Nothing like hearing one of those things blow off from 40+psi. |
