I believe the stock shocks were made by KYB. At least that's what the original shocks on my Talon were made by.

My friend put agx for 1g awd on the rear today. It is sitting very low. I noticed on the suspension forum they put bushings are needed. IS that what they are for? To act as spacer or something? |

The bushings are used to mount the shocks to the car. The AWD shocks have a bigger hole then the shocks for the FWD cars. So you need bushings to fill those holes. |

FYI, I just looked on Conicelli and brand new rear FWD springs are $18.20 a piece and AWD rears are $19.24. That'll give you a price reference if you are trying to locate a used set. Ben, you're running AWD springs in the rear for the appoximate 1.75" drop correct? |

ok..that is what he is using. Kinda sucks summitt screwed up the order. When they got here they where fwd rear shocks..arggh. |

Teamed up with Progress front springs from an AWD 1G. Nice 1.5-2.0" drop. |

thats pretty cheap for stock shocks. maybe I'll throw a pair of those on the colt, see how they dampen. for anybody with an old stock shock lying around, does it say who manufactures it on it anywhere? thanks. -vic |

I looked up stock awd shocks, theyre made by KYB, and theyre actually cheap from conicelli. About 200 a set. |

As I understood it the GR-2's are stock replacement. The GR-2's will last -at best- *marginally* longer than stock struts in a *stock* application. As we all know, the stiffer the spring (as in coilovers or AWD springs), the higher the frequency of the spring oscillation. Basically, it moves shorter and faster. The stock and GR-2 struts aren't made to handle the higher frequencies and fail (seals blow) faster. A shock like the AGX or the Koni or the Gab's are made to handle higher spring rates and will probably pay off in the long run. I've had my AGX's on my 91 AWD for a year now with super stiff AND short springs (progress) with no signs of deterioration. However, my brother's AGX's blew out in 6 months using Eibach Sportlines (real short/stiff). I've never heard of anyone's Koni's blowing out - in fact I bought a set that were a year old for my 95 AWD and they lasted another year and a half until I sold it FWIW |
