Those are oil squirters. You should either put them back in or close their oil feed holes to increse your oil pressure to normal levels. |

Well judging from the hit marks on the little squirters, you have had the metal internals hit the squirters at some point, and therefore should be very careful of what you are looking for under the engine block. Make sure you don't have any obvious dent marks on your rods, pistons, crank shaft and so on, such that you don't have unwanted "sandblasting" action that metal bits tend to have when floating around the bottom or top end. Did you have any metal particles stuck to the oil pickup tube, or on the bottom of the pan? I can almost guarantee with the damage just to the tips on both ends of the squirters alone, you have some shavings floating around in the bottom end. Did you drive the car much further after getting the rock into the oil pan? Oh, and whatever you do, do not reuse those squirters in your block until you get new ones or sort this out further. ![]() |

While researching "crankwalk" on the 2g 4g63t motors I ran across one site that mentioned that the oilsquirters were prone to breaking off after vibrations fracture them. The marks on the squirters you found in your pan probably happened as the fell past the rotating assembly and were perhaps bounced around briefly before settling into the sump. Oil squirters are there to cool the underside of the pistons. On the 2g motors they are fed from the main bearings. Like the previous poster said, replace them or cap them to increase the pressure in and around the main bearings/journals. |

I found the same thing in my 1g AWD, but I only had one break. I just bought one from the dealer and put it back in. |

Those are 3 good reasons not to use oil squirters in that picture. Dont drive it till you fix it, even if your dummy light says you have oil pressure - they aren't called "dummy" lights for nothing... |

I'd close the oil squirter holes shut. Will cost less than new ones and you'll never have oil pressure headaches again. |
