what would need to be done to swap in a 63t would the harness work or would you need a 63t wiring harness. still a 4g63 is much better than my 1.5.
heh, if it's the 4g63na dohc all you need to do is add a knock sensor wire to the loop.... yea... just two wires....one for the ecu and one ground :drinkers:

pretty sure its not AWD, that button behind the shifter is just a lock out for the overdrive, or sport mode.

The galant gsx ( like mine, I just always call it VR4) dont have auto tranny, the tranny is the same as the dsm. ( as the guy said that do alot about dsm)...there is a galant that came with fwd DOHC and it has the ECS ( electronic control suspension) most of the galant has the 4g63 SOHC.

well i don't even know whats going on for me car wise. I've been emailing a lady in York, pa about a 1990 civic HB i'll most likly end up with that depending on the condition. The motor thats in it would only have to last me like a month or two because a friend of mine has a civic and put well over $7,000 in the engine then totaled his car.... twice. He told me $1500 for the totaled car  . Hes afraid of it now :axe: . It was a front end wreck an at 110 mph :o and suprisingly only dented the one pipe on the headers. It was his fault each time though because he was :drinkers: :drinkers: :drinkers: but he wasn't hurt amazingly enough. :( :o :( Damn I might become a Honda owner.

The Galant GSX tranny isn't the same as a DSM tranny. It has the hella JDM final-drive ratio that makes it impossible for you to use a USDM 3-bolt or 4-bolt rear-end. I should re-phrase that. You can't put a DSM/VR-4 tranny in a Galant GSX without swapping to a USDM rear-end, or vice-versa. The Galant GSX tranny also has a different viscous coupler than DSM AWD trannies, it's smaller/thinner. The FWD Galant you're referring to was the Galant GSR, those are even more rare than the GSX. Both the GSR and the GSX had the option for the ECS, but i've never seen this in person.

Listen, here's the deal. Even if it's a DOHC 4G63, it's still a high mileage,
high compression motor. It might be able to sustain 8 psi worth of boost. You are limited to turning the boost up cause of the compression ratio, and the fact that the motor has high mileage on those pistons. It WILL NOT sustain the abuse that you will throw at it.

If you just have to get the car, good luck.
But we TOLD YOU that you are trying to iceskate uphill.

Either buy a VR4, or make sure that you buy a 5spd GGSX, and do a
4G63T engine swap

At least with the GGSX, you can add a wire to the existing harness for the knock sensor, go with a 4G63T maf, and ECU and then drop in a 4G63T block.

i've seen a few non turbo dsms, made into turbo, u just have to wire in a knock sensor and a resistor pack, the motor will hold up just fine.
It has the same exact rods and crank as the turbo one, and the pistons are made of the same material as the turbo models, just there 9-1 compression instead of 7.9-1. And to let you know 9-1 is no where near to high to turbo, it isnt that big of a worry if you do turbo it, the motor will last for a good while if your not to hard on it
