OK, now we need it seems a turbo. Just learned ours was assembled incorrectly (how'd they do that) from East Coast Turbo. Shop said it swallowed something that disagreed with it. Turbo has/had just 10K miles of service.
Wahhh!

From the postings, it seems that a 14B turbo is the best setup. But this also requires a 1G maf, injectors, whatever a sacf is??? fuel pump, ECU.. This car at a shop at $100 hr. Any suggestions?

Motor has about 700 miles since total rebuild.

I could perhaps drive the car home and do the rework myself.

Thanks for all your posts and excellent suggestions.

$100 US per hour, goddamn! They are charging that much at Ford right now in CDN dollars. Anywhooo, I would drive your car home and do this stuff yourself, you can get everything in stages, and with a little learning get the turbo all back together in short order. Some mandatory items should include a torque wrench, loctite, and antisieze for reassembly of important items.
As for now, what is the budget you would be able to work with to get everything back to snuff?

The turbo and the manifold are fine, but that kit is designed to bolt up to a 2g Eclipse, not a CSM. All those lines and fittings would have to modified to adapt to your car.

You need to use the lines from a 1g (90-94) Eclipse/Talon/Laser. You'll need the water feed and drain lines, and the oil feed and drain lines. Purchase a Stainless-Steel Braided Oil Feed Line from Road Race Engineering when you install the turbo. Everything should bolt up if you have those lines.

The 2g manifold is made from a better cast iron that won't crack like a 1g manifold. The 2g manifold also has a larger turbine inlet hole than a 1g manifold. No, that doesn't mean you'll get more power from a 2g manifold either, it just means the hole is larger, so you'd want to port-match the turbine housing of whatever turbo you run to match its size. In general, porting is a good thing to do either way.

Finally have some cash to start working on my mirage.
Spend last week reading around the forum, and figured that I?m going to install small 16g, 2g manifold (already ordered), will try to get 450cc or 490cc injectors I will try to get the 3 inch down pipe (anybody knows who I can order it from?)
Today decided to take the down pipe off?
Little right off with pic?s
(my manifold and turbo was already off)
Tools:
Ranch
12mm
14mm

Put the car on the jacks. All you have to do is unscrew 6 12mm and 3 14mm screws.

Image
(thouth 3 are hard so get a bigger ranch  there also going to be a lot of dust so protect your eyes)

Also decided to sound proof my doors.(i know it adds up some weight, but i'm not too consern about that)
My dad used dynamat for his audi, he had some left, so why not use it?!
so here is some pic's on how to take the door cover off

You will have it somewhat different. Without the speakers and little water protection (remember, I inherited the car from my dad and he had a lot of work done to it, although keeping it stock)

more pic's available at http://s24.photobucket.com/albums/c7/Ali_Star/Mirage/

So again, who can tell me where I can order bigger, custom down pipe (and everything else)?!

Thanks
Alex.

You should post some pics of the actual Mirage, it looks like it might be pretty clean from what I could see of it.

Those manifolds have a terrible rap in the DSM community for always cracking and breaking. Just a heads up.

Ebay Megan Racing 2G AWD model downpipe I believe is great. Check the product review section here as netninja2001 bought this same pipe as I remember it. 2G manifold is stock cast iron and any DSM site will have some for sale - just watch out for heavily ported models as they may crack sooner rather than later.

yeah the downpipe looks greate http://www.hopupracing.com/meradopimiec.html
but what i think is the problem is that it goes around the rear axel. i don't know if they make them like that. The car is lower than the stock mod, i don't know how the straight shot mufler will work and i don't want it to feel every bump..
any suggestions on mufflers?!
(thanks on the hint for downpipe)

Mufflers are subjective depending up on what the owner wants to do. For the downpipe, it is only a a section from the turbo to about half way down the car, you should be able to get the rest of the exhaust made up to be able to connect to the rear; custom muffler shop. If you have a turbo sized 14b or larger you will be able to take advantage of a 2.5-3.0" system.

Mufflers, I suggest keeping 1 at least (plus a resonator), and you will need the catalytic to function properly as well, or you WILL fail the emissions in California. Ontario Canada = California emissions for the most part, and I have gone down that path already.
