Received my parts from FP today. Included were the 14mm eye bolts that bolt the water lines to the turbo. There is a slight problem however. The stock water lines will not fit the 14mm eye bolts. :x

Where did I miss the fact that I need different size water lines for the Evo III 16G turbo and where would I find these to fit this turbo on my 1G engine?

I picked up some water lines from FP that magically fit on the turbo properly and would fit on the water pipe but of course it's not going to happen without some modification to the lines. When folks cut there water lines what relaible method does one use to add a flexible line and reconnect? There must be some "trick" fittings that I'm not aware of.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are the new lines a braided stainless line? A Kevlar line? Some other type of line? What needs to be modified to make them work? Are they too long or too short? More info will definitely help. Are pictures a possibility?

The stock 14G water feed and return lines should fit your 16G.

Did you order water lines for the stock Colt turbo setup?

These lines are similiar to stock only with larger banjo ends - 14mm I believe. They do not route the same way as the stock lines. They are simply metal lines and are not braided or flexible what so ever. Sorry I don't have a pic of them. I can post this weekend as I attempt, once again, to get this 16G turbo bolted up.

That is simply not possible. The stock lines will not fit the banjo fittings as this requires a larger diameter 14mm fitting as the banjo bolts are 14mm. I have the big 16G turbo. Now I have the proper fitting lines to the turbo and to the water line at the block. What I don't have is the proper routing to the fore mentioned areas.

I would need to cut the lines in half and extend with a flexible substitute - either a rubber hose with some sort of flair at the end of my lines or a steel braided lines that securely attaches to the fore mentioned water lines. I don't want a hack job. I'm looking for a reliable, professional looking setup considering of course, this is a highly modified setup to begin with.

Pictures worth a thousand posts.

In this shot the line runs the wrong direction, the only direction it will fit-barely.

In this pic it's pretty self evident this won't work.

In the first picture you need to move that waterline to the back of the turbo(block side) and have it run to the thermostat housing. Then run the lower u-shaped waterline to the front of the turbo. All better?

^^ and once you do that you'll notice that the bracket on that back waterline will bolt up to cold side housing.

Yup, you've got em on backwards man. Easier thing would be to use a non-turbo water pipe and get rid of water cooling to the turbo.
