Post subject:  4g Sedan W/ 2.0...What Mounts?????

K, so I have a 4g sedan with a 90 non turbo tranny in it. The car has a the 4g63t with a 2g timing belt side mount. The cross member is attached the mounts on the motor and the tranny mount is attached to the body.

I'm not completely positive if this is right. The car shimmys under load at around 40. I pulled the mount today and it was 3m Windowelded on and it was shot. I'm not positive it this is the reason of the shimmy cause I haven't found a replacement mount yet.

My buddy Eddy has a 4g with a 1g timing side motor mount. His car doesn't shimmy.

I don't know if anyone is familiar or have been through this issue yet. Essentially what I'm looking for is a combo to make this car safe to through power at it. I'm saying combo meaning what tranny, type of mounts, axles. I'm not longer on a cable clutch setup, it's hydraulic.

I'd be interested in buying mounts too if someone makes them. maybe even a couple sets if the price is right.

Thanks.

For those reading. I'm using 2g timing belt side mount. The ears were cut off to fit the block. all the other mounts are stock mounts only if you're using 1.5 or 1.8 tranny.

If you're going to use a 1g or 2g tranny, you'll have to get axles made or having the diff changed to mate with the smaller splined axles.

Hit up 89mirageman. He might have some answers for you as far as the mounts.

I was told 1g dsm fwd turbo axles would work on a 4g with a 1g tranny swap. Also 92.5-94 dsm fwd turbo axles should work with a 2g dsm tranny with the larger diff splines.

Right now, I'm running a 90 non turbo fwd tranny with matching axles. That doesn't work for me. I get terrible shimmy at about 45mph+

That could be coming from the way the tranny is mounted or a number of other things, not necessarily the axles.

Lining everything up is easy. Look through the crankshaft access hole behind the driver wheel. A 1/2" extension should go through the hole and directly straight into the crankshaft bolt. That will tell you if your mounting is off.
