Post subject:  Rear strut and spring

We are in the middle of this swap here. The owner is looking to use the stock CSM or stock DSM rear assemblies. What can we expect from ride heigth here? Can we even do this? Does the owner need a coilover of some kind.

I know all the answers for coilovers in the rear, both FWD and AWD, but haven't come across anyone who has done this with stock stuff.

I;d sugest a coil-over, basicly from what we have gathered here the stock C/S/M's shockes are longer the the DSM and they are still a inch or so too short, some have sugested "blocking" the top of the shock to lower the shock otheres sd they would make a adjuster at the bottlm with a few different mounting positions.

Hope this helps.

Biglady,

Use stock CSM struts and a coilover of some sort if you can with a decent length spring. Just try to maintain the stock CSM overall length if you can. I am on Konis for CSMs and run a coilover with a 10" eibach. The rear is in place with the wheels on the car but it has yet to hit the ground. From what I can tell the height should be perfect. As soon as it does hit the ground pics will be posted.

For my car, I used Colt Koni yellows, and stock 1g awd springs. End result ride height looks like this:

We just ended up using the stock CSM suspension. It was the tallest of all we had here. Seems to work. Just will be soft. Going to be interesting with 550whp and stock CSM suspension.
