Post subject:  Rear springs for AWD conversion

This has not been discussed in much length so I wanted to get some opinions and also perhaps what some of the AWD conversion guys are going with in terms of spring length for the rears. I have Koni adjustables and coilovers but I'm stuck on which spring I want. I believe DSS coilovers run a 7" or 8" spring, someone correct me here if I'm wrong, and I was wondering how well those lengths may work. I know the stock springs are around 12" but they are total weaksauce and I never measured the compressed length. I'm contemplating eibach 8" or 10", any ideas which length might be better?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Jason

Longer the better as long as you have coilovers

Yeah I have coilovers and I was leaning towards the 10" but just wanted some confirmation. You are on the DSS products right? How high do you have the coilovers extend to?

Just to kinda update, I went with a 10" eibach on my coilovers with Konis and they seem to be dead on in terms of overall length. I'll get pics when the rear goes in and the car is on the ground.

Hey Geoff,

I got them off Behrents BTW, via your advice from a previous post. Part # for the 500lbs 10" length 2.5" ID spring is: EIB1000-250-0500.

I thought that there wereTWO varriables: length and weight compressability(?). I have felt that mine were a little too strong and had planned to replace one with a lighter tension. Are you saying that I should replace both to 10"? (I have GC coilovers with adjustable Koni's.)

Bill,

I'm not sure if the 10" spring is 100% right as the car has not hit the pavement yet but the rear is in place for the most part so hopefully I'll have an answer for you sometime this coming week. The strut/coilover assembly fits nicely so far so I do think the 10" will be right, but I'm just not 100% sure at this moment. When I know yall will know.
